Council Meeting
April 18, 1969
The regular Council Meeting of the County of Newell No.4 was held
in the County Office on .April 18, 1969 at 10:00 a.m.

Minutes of the March 7, 1969 Council and Reconv~ned:Council
°~ Meeting of March 18th, 1969 were read and adopted.
Moved by Councillor Bartlett, that the outstanding taxes in the
„®% name of Three Walking Sticks Ranch in Section 29 and 32-21-14-4 be
cancelled.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Chrumka that Councillors Hajash and Bartlett
be appointed to meet with the Brooks School District Bc~ rd on
April 18th to disucss our tuition fee agreement further.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Chrumka that we accept the Treasurers'
/ Financial Report for the month of March. "
Carried.
Correspondence
Letter from the Department of National Revenue and the Alberta
Association of Municipal ~3istricts regarding the matter of tax
`~ exemptions on Councillors fees was read and ordered filed,
pending further information from the Association.
Letter from the Canada Post Office Department regarding our letter
M on increased rates to the local post office boxes was read and
ordered filed.
Adjourned for lunch 12:30 to 2:OO•p.m,
Mr. H.D. Carr, Regional Wildlife Biologist met with the Council
to discuss the Antelope, Deer and Pheasant population and Hunting
Season within the County of Newell.
Moved by Councillor Tautfest, that we pay Mrs. Gibb for 10 days
~'~ time off required due to pregency.

Moved by Councillor Ch3~tzmlca, that we approve Miss E. Jorgensen

pay effective June 16 to 30 inclusive.

~~' for the Recreation Training Course at. Drumheller.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Hajash, that we sponsor Miss Workes for the
~~' Recreation Training Course at Drumheller but without financial

The 1969 requisition from the Medicine Hat Health Unit was
presented.
Moved by Councillor Bartlett, that we accept the Medicine Hat
Health Unit Requisition, for 1969.
Carried.
The 1969 requisition from the Newell Foundation was presented
to Council and ordered filed pending receipt of :our 1969 figures
~ on equalized assessment.

Letter from the Brooks Co-op Association Ltd. regarding the
withdrawal of County from this Organization on basis of a share
~ holder was read.
Moved by Councillor Tauffest that we approve the withdrawal from
the Brooks Coop.
Carried.
Letter from Jubilee Insurance Ltd. regarding the proposed increase
in liability rates was read and the Secretary advised to obtain
further information on this matter as to cost.
Letter from the Duchess Village Arena Committee requesting donation
was read.
Moved by Councillor Douglass that Bylaw 378 to donate $500.00 to
the Duchess Arena Committee receive first, second, and third
readings and finally messed.
Carried Unanimously.
Letter from the Brooks Rest Room Society requesting return of
title to their property was read. The Secretary was to advise
them that the County is unable~:to return title in their name
but that they will be in full agreement with any agreement that
is reached between the other two parties, namely E.I.D. and
Brooks Rest Room Society.
Letter from the Fire Commissioner regarding the appointment of
local assistance was read, and the Secretary requested to obtain
~;' further information as to who will pay this mans wages and mileage
in this matter.

Letter from Goliad Ltd. requesting pipeline crossings ~ae'in
Section 10-17-12-4 and one in Section 1-18_13-4.,
Moved by Councillor Chrumka that we approve these applications
subject to all other regulations being met.

GJhereas it has been found that the above mentioned taxes should
be cancelled.
Therefore be it resolved that under and by the provisions of
Section 97 of the Munici~.l Taxation Act, that the taxes as listed,
be deleted from the tax roll of the County of Newell No.4
