County of Newell No. 4 Council Meeting November 15, 1968 The regular Council meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office on Friday November 15, 1968 at 10:00 A:.M. Members present Reeve Councillors Sec.--Treas. J. Hajash. G. Larsen- A. Chrumka~ T. Musgrove' F. Mandeville R. Hall F. Bergen` P. Baxtlett~ G. Douglass, D. James The minutes of the October 11th meeting were read and adopted. Moved by Councillor Douglass, that we rescind the motion re rep<a.irs to Hargrave road. Carried. Letter fxom Fake Newell Cub & scout Association was read re Walkathon. Moved by 'Councillor Hajash, that we approve their request but on the grounds that the County will not be responsible for any accidents and that all participants go on their own risk. Carried. Moved by Councillor Chrumka that we accept the secretaries statement of Receipts and disbursements for October. Carried. Municipal Tnspectors Report was read, and Secretary was to acknowledge receipt of and action taken. Request from Calgary Power Ltd. re Power Line Extension at Bassano was read. Moved by Councillor Hall, that we approve the request. Carried. Application 68M54 (Fleming) from Medicine Hat Regional Planning was read. . Moved by Councillor Hajash, that we approve this application subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. Application 68M65 (Village of Duchess) from Medicine Hat Regional Planning was read, . Moved by Councillor Bartlett, that we approve this request, subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. Report on Co-op dividends, was presented and ordered filed. . . ~,, „C C, ;/. Adjourned for lunch 12:30 - 2:00 P.M. Letter from Ailberta Farm Purchase Board re loans was read and ordered filed. I~pplication for Service Station from J. Unser Jr. was read. Moved by Councillor Larsen, that we approve this application subject to all other regulations being met. !Carried. Letter from Medicine Hit Health Unit re Disposal Grounds was read and referred to the Muricipal Supervisor. Application from Farm Electric Services I,td. in Sec. 8-9-19-14-4 was read. . Moved by Councillor Hajash, that we approve this request subject ' to all other regulations being met. Carried. Mr. S. Saunders of E.I.D. met with the Courcil to discuss the purchase of NW4 LSD 12-8-19-11-4. Offer made of $25.00 per acre. Moved by Councillor Chrumka that we refuse this offer. Carried Unanimously. A second offer of $50.00 per acre was made. Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that.we accept $50.00 per acre plus all revenue received to date. Carried. Offer refused. 'T`hird Offer of $100.00 per acre was made. Moved by Councillor Larsen, that we refuse this offer. Carried Unanimously. Plan of Kirschenman House and road was presented and ordered filed. Letter from Niblock, I~'LacDonald, et al re collection of Junior Co]_lege account was read. Moved by 'Councillor Bartlett, that.we request a detailed statement of the amount of $750.00 and advise that we are appealing the procedure to the office of the l~lberta Ombudsman. Carried Unanimously. Letter from Town of Bassano Recreation Board was read and the Secretary was to advise them of the procedure in this matter. Lee for 67-68, 68-69. Carried. Moved by Councillor Bartlett, that we establish a uniform rate of X2.50 per bus per month for bus filling service. Carried. Moved by Councillor Bartlett, that we approve the request from C.P.v.G. for instalation of a ground bed along LSD 12-22-21-14-4. Carried. Moved by Councillor Chrumka,that we hold our Organization meeting on December 10th 1968. 'Carried. Letter of resignation was read from Councillor Mandeville. Moved by 'Councillor 'Chrumka, that we~accept this resignation but with regret. Carried. Moved by Councillor Hall, that the Nomination meeting for by-election be set for Friday November 29th. Carried. Moved by `Councillor Chrumka, that N. Fakas be appointed as Returning Officer. Carried. Moved by Councillor Musgrove, that the following be appointed as D.R.O.'s .
