County Council
December 11th, 1964
The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County of Newell No.4
vwas held in the County LffiCe in Brooks, Alberta at 10:00 a.m. nn
Friday, December 11th, 1964.

The minutes of the previous meeting of November 6th, 1964 were read
and adopted.
Moved by Councillor Chrumka, that the reading of the list of accounts
paid in the minutes be dispensed with and scrutinized by each councillor
from his own copy of themi~utes.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Eastman, that the Secretary's monthly reports
of Receipts, Payments, and Monthly Progress, for the month of November
be accepted.

The Prairie Farm Assistance Lists Nos. 1 & 2 ~rere read and discussed
and ordered filed.
Advice from the Provincial Planning Board of the approval of the sub-
division for the n~~~ Pheasant Motel was read discussed and ordered
filed.
Va$ious correspondence with regard to the proposed Nursing Home
developement was read. and ordered filed.as a result of which, Councillor
Eastman expressed his willingness to attend the meeting at the ToT~~n of
Brooks, December 14th, 1964. .
A letter from Street Robbins & Morrow to invite two councillors to go
an an Equipment Tour to Peoria, was read and discussed. It was
agreed that Councillors Hajash & Eastman should represent the County
of Newell on this trip.
Advice was received from the Department of Highways, that the applic-
ations for District HighTlay on the Duchess-Rosemary, and the Gem-
Bassano roads were not approved.
Advice was received from the Department of Highways that the surfacing
of the Brooks-Duchess road had been inspected and approved as satis-
factory.

FORM 119-F works applications for 1964-65 have been approved.

The Municipal Inspectors Report on the County for the year 1964 was
read and discussed, Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the Municipal
Inspectors Report be accepted, and filed for presentation and read-
ing at the inset Annual Meeting of the County, to be held in 1965.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that Tenders be called for the crush-
ing of approximately 50000 yards of 3(4" gravel for the Winter Works
Program. Tenders to be opened January 6th, 1965.

School Committee:
Id[oved by Councillor Eastman, that the report of the School Committee
be accepted.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that a transportation allowance of
$1.00 per day be paid to Anne Piper, Joyce Maier and Gail Trotter for
days in attendance at the Tilley School.

Municipal Committee
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the report of the Municipal
Committee be accepted.
Carried.
Moved by Counci llor Eastman, that the 1964 completed assessment be
accepted, and used for taxation purposes in 1965.

Agricultural Service Board
Moved by Councillor ~Yandeville that the report of the Agricultural
Service Board be accepted.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the Department of Highways be
regested to complete the Hardsurfacing on the access roads at Tilley
Rainier & Scandia, at theearliest opportunity.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Eastman, that the County enter into the proposed
Drainage Agreement, with the Minister of Agriculture and the Eastern
Irrigation District and the Reeve and Secretary be authorized to sign
the required agreement forms.
Carried.
Hospital Committee
Moved by Councillor Eastman, that the report of the Hospital Committee
be accepted.

Moved by Councillor Hajash, that the report of the Ne~Jell Foundation
be accepted.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Eccles, that a subsistence alloti~rance of $20.00
per month be paid to Mrs. Ostifachuk for tthe monthsof December and
January.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Douglass, that a grocery allowance of $20.00
per month for 3 months be allowed Charles St. Denis.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that Bylaw X266 to cancel the Asses-
sment and Taxation for 1964 on account No. 8550 B, Nortex Exploration
Corp be given 1st, 2nd and 3rd readings and sent to the Minister
for approval.
