County Council
October 9th, 1964
`Ihe regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County of Newell
No. 4 was held in the County Office in Brooks, Alberta, at 10:00 a.m.
on Friday, October 9th, 1964.

Zhe minutes of the previous meeting of September 18th, 1964 were
read and adopted.
Moved by Councillor Larsen, that the Bylaw No. 265 to authorize
the sale of Lot 1, Block 7, Plan 4945 F.W.bRolling Hills be given
1st, 2nd, and 3rd readings and finally passed.
Carried Unanimously
Moved by 'Councillor Douglass, that the Roadwork Agreement with
Mr. Tiffin, for extra road allowance S of "SW 1-24-16-TrT4 be accepted.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Grosfield, that the Secretary's monthly state-
ments of Receipts, Payments and Monthly progress for the month of
September be accepted.
Carried.

Moved by Councillor Hajash, that the plan of the 'Cassils R.E.A.
be approved.

Moved by Councillor Larsen, that the drawing of the Imperial Oil
Bulk Plant at Rolling Hills be approved.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Grosfield, that the proposed road crossings
by A. ~. McCay.Sec. 29-21-14 ~nT4 be approved subject to 'County
regulations covering crossings of County roadnallowances with
pipelines.
Carried.
A letter from the Eastern Irrigation District re the acquisition
of land for road purposes was read and ordered held for a future
joint meeting.
Applications for Transfers of Bridges were received for the fol-
lowing locations. W of Centre Sec 16-20-14-4
SSW .Section 1321-17-4
SSE Section 16-21-16-4
NON Centre Section 10-21-15-4
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the Bridge Transfers from
the Eastern Irrigation District be signed, and that they be added
to the 1965 Bridge Request to the Bridge Branch.

Moved by 'Councillor Eccles, that the Specialrl~llater Agreement of
the Eastern Irrigation District for water service fo the Hamlet
of Patricia be approved.

A letter from Peckover & Halwa, Insurance Adjusters, re the Gravel
Truck Damad~e 'Claim, was read.... and discussed and ordered filed.
Applications were received from Canadian Pacific Oil n& Gas Ltd.
for permission to cross County road allowances in the Verger and
Makepeace areas, as per maps attached thereto.
Moved by councillor Douglass, that the applications of the Canadian
Pacific Oil & Gas to cross the `County road allowances with pipe-
lines at the locations indicated be approved, providing they conform
to the ;County regulations for such crossings.
Carried .
Application was received from the California Standard Company to
cross the road allowance at NE 25-17-13-4 as per maps attached
thereto.
Moved by :Councillor Chrumka that the application of the California
Standard~Co, to cross 'County road allowance with pipeline at the
location indicated be approved providing they conf orm to the !County
regulations for such crossings.
Carried.
A letter from E. Gordon requesting improvement to the road
S of .S2 17-19-14-4 was read and discussed and recommended to
be done sometime other than this year.
A letter from Alberta Government Telephones re Buried Telephone
'Cable Duchess to Rosemary wasread and discussed and ordered held fmr
Councillor Eastmans directions and later the ;Secretary was directed
to reply.
A letter from the Department of Highways advised that no decision
could yet be given on the Duchess-Rosemary M.D.H. Application.

Moved by cCouncillor Armstrong, that the report of the Municipal
Committee be accepted.

Moved by LCouncillor Douglass, that the application of Canadian
Pacific Oil & Gas to cross the road allowance between Secs
8 & 9-23-18-W4 be approved subject to County Regulations.

Moved by ,Councillor Mandeville, that application be made to cancel
District Highway DH 26A from N of NW of 11-15-15-4 through
Sec 1-15-15-4 and that application be made to have a new location
made straight East on the road allowance to District Highway 26A.
Carried.
School Committee
Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that the report of the ;School
Committee be accepted.

Moved by Councillor Eastman, that the quotation of Marshall Wells
$2850.00 to fence the Reservoirs at the Tilley School be accepted.
and the fencing be proceeded withat once.

Moved by Councillor Chrumka, that the sum of $100.00 be paid to any
delegate of the ;County attending the A.S.T.A. Covention in Calgary
November 4-5-6 & 7, 1964.

for the old Weed .Sprayer be accepted.

Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that the County accept the pre
arranged costs with regard to the Land demonstration at Berringers,

Moved by ,Councillor Douglass that the Agricultural Service Board
'Supervisor be directed to attend the Agricultural Service Board
School in Eamonton, October 26 to 30th and that subsistance be
paid by the County.

Moved by 'Councillor Mandeville, that the report of the Agricultural
Service Board Be accepted.

Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the report of the Hospital
!Committee be accepted.

ation be accepted.

The tenders for a new 48 passenger School Bus were opened and
considered.
Moved by Councillor `C)arumka, that a 48 passenger School Bus
(Blue Bird) be ordered from Modern Auto~Service at a price of
$5688.00 for immediate delivery.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Larsen, that the old Johnson Garage at Rolling
Hills, presently held by the County under Tax Recovery Proceedings
be rented to the Tyrall Gas Co. at a rental rate of $30.00 per
month subject to a 30 day notice to evacuate.
