The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County
of Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office in Brooks,
Alberta at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11th, 196.1.

The minutes of the previous meeting of July 7th, 1961 were

P~Zoved by Councillor Plumer, that the `Secretary's reports
of Receipts, Expenditures, and Monthly Progress, for the
month of July be accepted.

Moved by Councillor P~~cAleese that the County take out a
membership in the Canadian Good Roads Association.

Notice was given to Councillors, of the requirements for
making applications under the P.F.A.A.
A letter from the Canadian Western Natural Gas Co., re
an increase in the rates at Gem was read and ordered filed.
A letter from the Calgary Power Co. re conversion of rates
was read.
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the new rates by the
Calgary Power Co. be accepted.

Advice was received from the LDepartment of Education, School
Building Assistance Branch, of the approval of the Bassano
School Addition at 4.5 units.

Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the bid of the Nick Linden Construe--
tion Co., Nledicine Hat, of 4$¢ per dubic yard be accepted subject
to a lower or more advantageous bid being received from Tollestrup
or Tuggle & McMillan.

Moved by Councillor Mandeville that the offer of Willard to purchase
Lot 2, Block 1, Plan 34$7 FU for X25.00 be acdepted.

Block 1, Plan 34$7 FU to W.H. Willard, Rainier be given 1st, 2nd,
& 3rd readings and finally passed.

Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that Bylaw No. 220 to
purchase LSD5 .. SW 36 ~- 21- 1$ -. W1rth, containing !~0 acres,
for a gravel supply from Grant Bodmer, Bassano, for the
sum of X7,000.00 be given 1st, 2nd, & 3rd readings and
finally passed.
