COUNTY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 9th, 1954
The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County
of Newell No -4 was held in the County Office at Brooks,
Alberta, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9th, 1954•

The minutes of the meetings of September 11th and 24th were
read and adopted.
Moved by Councillor McAleese, that the Secretary's monthly
reports of Revenue, Expenditure and monthly progress be
accepted, �

Mr. Frank Nowicky met the Council to discuss employment as
mechanic.
Adjourned for lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Reports of Committees
The report of the Chairman of the School Committee was
received.
It was unanimously approved that the resolutions pertaining
to the amendment of the Teachers' Profession Act, and the
School Act, and certain other changes, to protect School
Boards and Committees from the machinations of the Alberta
Teachers' Association be forwarded to the Alberta School %
Trustees.Convention.
The report of the Chairman of the Municipal Committee was
received.

The report of the Chairman of the Agricultural Service
Board was received.

Moved by Councillor Arrison that the Agricultural Service
Board's resolution with regard to the use of "10$011 in the
County be concurred in.
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Arrison that the Board be authorized
to purchase a 1i h.p. motor for the roadside seeding
operations.
Carried.

Moved by Councillor Arrison, that the County pay to Mr.
Tamura the sum of $50.00 annually for three years, as com-
pensation for each years additional summerfallowing work
in the eradication of Toad Flax, on S.E. 11-21-15-W4th.
Carried.
Messrs. Bauman, Youngstrom and Olun of Rolling Hills met the
Council to request assistance in the installation of a more
sanitary water supply for the Hamlet of Rolling Hills.
The Council approved the re -installation of the Rolling
Hills water supply, with Councillor Shuttleworth looking %
after the Countyfs interests.

Moved by Councillor Arrison that Frank Nowicky be offered
employment as mechanic by the County, at a salary of
$3,400.00 per year, with the understanding that he takes
out his papers for motor mechanics as soon as possible.

understanding that the purchase price be paid by Dressel in
monthly deductions from his monthly roadwork earnings.

Rolling Hills for the Garage Building etc, to apply the
Tax Arrears against the purchase of the property by the County

Tge Secretary was directed to advise the Superintendent of
t e Canadian Pacific Railway, Medicine Hat of the complaints
received regarding the Tilley railroad crossing delays.
