The minutes of the meeting, July 17, 1953, were adopted as read; - Moved by Councillor Lokier that the Secretary's Statement of Revenue and Expenditure for the month of July be accepted. U 1 2 - Meeting adjourned for supper 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. . . . . . . . . . . . Councillor Mortensen reported on the 1-1unicipal Committee. . . . . . . . . . . . Councillor Ockey reported on the School Cormittee. . . . . . . . . . . . Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the necessary steps be taken'to proceed with the remodelling of the Bassano School, and the building of a New School at Duchess. Carried . . . . . . . . . . . The Secretary was directed to instruct the Teachers and Principals signing Van Drivers Reports, that only the miles travelled each day are to be shown on the Report Form. Moved by Councillor Arrison, that the School Van Drivers be Paid at the following rates; STYLE "B" Van 27¢ per mile actually travelled. STYLE 11Aff Van 30¢ per mile actually travelled. and that these rates are to apply commencing August 31, 1953• Any short mileage routes to be taken care of by special agreement. Carried Councillor Arrison reported on the Agricultural Ser-kice Board and received the Councils concurrence in the recommendation to take action against the fol lowing on account of the weedy condition of their lands. Moved by Councillor Arrison, that application be made to the Department of Agriculture for the implementation of the Strychrine Capsule method of Coyote Control. Carried Council was advised of the appointment of G.W. Philpott as pest Control Officer for the County. Carried Unan. The Secretary read a letter from the Village of Tilley, advising of the election of Mir. Eric E. Tatem to replace Mr. D. C. Foster as that -Units representative on the School Committee, Mr. Foster having verbally resigned at the last School Committee meeting. . . . . . . . . . . Moved by Councillor Waraksa, that 1,1r. Eric E. Tatem of Tilley be appointed to the School Committee of the County, replacing D.C. Foster. Carried The secretary was directed to bring to the attention of the Agridultural Board Supervisor the bad weed condition existing on the C.P.R. Right of qday between Duchess and Bassano on the Bassano-Empress Line. Moved by Councillor MortfBnsen, that permission be given to Imperial Oil Co. to construct a Service Station on the Southwest corner of the intersection of the Trans -Canada Highway and Highway 36, one mile north of Brooks providing it conf6tms to the regulaticros of the Highway Traffic Board, and the Town Planning Commission. Carried . . . . . . . . . . Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the lands as listed in the letter from the Department of Education July 17th 1953, be included in the School Districts as outlined, effective 1953. Carried Moved by Councillor Lokier, that the Shop Foreman be authorized to have an installation made by the Imperial Oil Ltd, for the Duel Visible Pumps, and new underground tanks, at the material yard. Carried It was unanimouslyy agreed that the bid of ��Vendelboe Bros to move the Lathom School to Brooks for N600.00 was not acceptable. The Secretary was directed to write to York Shaw, 1335 -- 12th Avenue V4. Calgary, and Earl Moore, Dorothy, Alberta, with a view to having them bid on the moving of the Bow Bridge and Lathom Schools. . . . . . . . . . . r Moved by Councillor Waraksa, that the bid of Vdendelboe to purchase an old road grader for the sum of Twenty Dollars be accepted.
