HomeMy WebLinkAboutNewell Notify Sign Up Instructions 2023Road & infrastructure updates County news Cultural & community events Fire bans & restrictions County property for sale Public notices Tenders & requests for proposals Planning & development updates Non-emergency alerts are chosen at user discretion, and may include: Newell Notify is an information notification system managed by the County of Newell, and allows two types of notifications to community members: Grass/wildfires Flooding Chemical spills Train derailment Tornado Evacuation details & instructions Emergency alerts are mandatory, and may include: Receive emergent and non-emergent news from the County of Newell. Create separate accounts for each member of your household so everyone can be notified in an emergency. Several locations within the County of Newell boundarycan be chosen to receive notifications from; for example, a family member's farm or a section of your child's school, etc... Having multiple sources of information can keep you aware of the conditions in your region. For example you can download weather apps to keep up to date with current weather conditions. As well we encourage you to download the “Alberta Emergency Alert” app provided by the Government of Alberta. This app will provide information and the actions to take when a disaster occurs. More information can be found here: http://www.emergencyalert.alberta.ca Choose how you want to be notified: When you sign up, you will be asked to input your contact information and locations you would like to receive notifications for. The system requires at least two different delivery methods. If there is an emergency or critical event in your entered locations, you will receive notifications from the County of Newell through these chosen methods. Step 1: To sign up for Newell Notify go to:www.countyofnewell.ab.ca/p/newellnotify and click 'Sign Up'. Note: If you are using a smartphone you may be asked to download the “Everbridge Mobile Safety App”. Click “Cancel” and proceedusing your web browser. Step 2: Enter your details and accept the 'Terms of Use'. Click 'Create Your Account'. Step 3: Enter a minimum of TWO contact details. Step 4: Enter the locations where you want to receive alerts for within the County of Newell boundary. If there is a critical event in that area you will get a notification. Examples (your residence, your child’s school, place of work, family members farm). Please note: As most residents live in a rural area, entering 'County of Newell' in the address field will suffice. Step 5: After you click 'Verify this Address', choose the address that matches your location. If you do not see it listed, click 'None of these look right' to manually find your location. Once you find it, click 'This is my location'. Select the subscriptions you would like to be notified for. Note that 'Emergency Alerts' are preselected as they are mandatory. You can expand the categories by clicking the arrow. Step 7: Do this for each location you require. You can add up to five locations. Once you are done adding locations click 'Save & Continue'.Step 6: Step 8: Review your information and click 'Finish' when done, and then look for the 'Your profile was successfully created'.
