HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-PPW-033 Signs COUNTY OF NEWELL - POLICY HANDBOOK POLICY NO: 2014-PPW-033 TITLE: SIGNS ADOPTED: SUPERCEDES NO: 2012-PPW-033 January 23, 2014 (C-36/14) TO BE REVIEWED: PAGE NO: 1 of 1 POLICY PURPOSE: Control the placement of signs both within road allowances and on private land. GENERAL STATEMENT: 1.No signs, other than those of the County of Newell or those required by Alberta Transportation, will be allowed within road allowances. 2.Signs allowed on private property must be applied for through the Development Permit Process with Planning and Development adhering to conditions of the Land Use Bylaw 1755-12, and meet the following provisions: a.They do not interfere with the safety of the public. b.Signs shall be set-back a minimum of 50m (150’) from the edge of any intersection and far enough from any approach as to not obstruct the vision at the approach. 3.The County reserves the right to remove any sign not meeting the above provisions. 4.School Bus Stop Ahead signage will be erected by the County, upon approved application.
