IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA
BYLAW NO. 1729 -11
BEING a bylaw of the County of Newell No. 4 in the Province of Alberta, to provide for Mutual
Aid in the event of a disaster or municipal emergency in any of the signatory Municipalities on
the attached Schedule "A" of the Mutual Aid Agreement which Schedule may be amended from
time to time by a Council resolution of the subject Municipalities without requiring an
amendment to the Bylaw.
AND WHEREAS an emergency or a disaster could affect the Municipalities to such a degree
that local municipal resources would be inadequate to cope with the emergency or disaster;
AND WHEREAS Section 7 of the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000 Chapter M -26 as
amended, authorizes a Council of a Municipality to pass a Bylaw with respect to the safety,
health and welfare of people and the protection of people and property;
AND WHEREAS the Municipalities acknowledge that it is desirable to enter into an Agreement
to formalize their rights and obligations relating to assistance that may be provided during an
emergency or disaster;
NOW THEREFORE, under the authority and subject to the provisions of the Municipal
Government Act, Statutes of Alberta 2000, Chapter M -26, as amended, the Council of the
County of Newell No. 4 in the Province of Alberta duly assembled does hereby enact the
following:
1. Approval is hereby given for the signing officers of the County of Newell No. 4 to
execute, under corporate seal, an Agreement amongst the municipalities listed in
Schedule A of the Mutual Aid Agreement
2. Bylaw No. 999 -90, being a bylaw to provide for Mutual Aid in the event of a peacetime
disaster, is hereby rescinded.
3. This bylaw shall come into effect upon third and final reading hereof.
