HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-03-16 Annual General Meeting (Annual General) MinutesCounty of Newell No. Q. 23rd Annual Meeting March 16, 1976 The 23rd Annual Meeting of the County of Newell No. q. was held in the Elks Hall at Brooks, Alberta on Tuesday, March 16, 19'76 at Z:00 p.m. There were 11 County Council and School Committee members present at this meeting, County Administrator, Assistant, Superintendent of Schools and the A.S.B. Heldman. 10 ratepayers were in attendance. The meeting was opened by the Secretary and nominations were opened for the position of Chairman for this meeting. Moved by B. Lore, seconded by Jim Hajash that A. Peltzer act as Chairman for this meeting. Moved by G. Tomilson, seconded by J. Hajash that nominations cease. Carried. Meeting was opened for the position of Secretary for this meeting. Moved by J. Hajash, seconded by B. Lore that D. James act as Secretary for this meeting. Moved by G. Tomilson, seconded by B. Lore that nominations cease. Carried. Moved by J. Hajash, seconded by B. Lore that we approve the proposed Agenda for this meeting. Carried. 1. Minutes Minutes of the March 18, 1975 Annual Meeting were read. Moved by G. Tomilson, seconded by 0. Elsbett, that we adopt the minutes as read. Carried. 2. Inspector's Report The Inspector's Report for 19'7$ was read. Moved by G. Tomilson, seconded by 0. Elsbett, that we accept the Municipal Inspectors Report as read, Carried. 3. Reeve's Report T. Musgrove gave his report on the County operation for 1975. Moved by T. Musgrove, seconded by B. Lore, that we accept this report. Carried. ~.. School Report P. Bart~:ett gave the School Report for 1975• Moved by P. Bartlett, seconded by J. Doerksen, that we accept this report. Carried. Moved by J. Doerksen, seconded by G. Tomilson, that we encourage the /'1 County School Committee to encourage Senior Government to continue ~'~ ~ to make funds available to keep our rural schools viable, providing , ~~ a sound basic education even when the smart-pupil ratio cannot be ~ '' - i'~ "` ~_ fully met. Agriculture Service Board Joe Hajash gave the Service Board Report for 1975. Moved by J. Hajash, seconded by 0. Elsbett, that we accept this report. Carried. 7. Bassano Hospital H. Janzen gave the Bassano Hospital Report for 1975. Moved by H. Janzen, seconded by G. Tomilson, that we accept this report. Carried. 8. Brooks Hospital & Nursing Home P. Bartlett gave the Brooks Hospital & Nursing Home Report for 1975• Moved by P. Bartlett, seconded by J. Hajash, that we accept this report. Carried. 9. Senior Citizens' Home T. Musgrove gave the Senior Citizens Home Report for 1975. Moved by T. Musgrove, seconded by 0. Elsbett, that we accept this report. Carried. J. Doerksen gave a vote of thanks to the County Council and Committees for the work carried out in 1975- 10. Adjourned Moved by G. Tomilson, seconded by Jim Hajash, that this meeting adjourn. Carried.
