EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
SEASONAL LABOURER - MUNICIPAL SERVICES
The County of Newell Municipal Services Department is now accepting applications to join our team as
a Seasonal Labourer. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Seasonal Labourer will contribute to
the goals, values, and success of the County.
Duties include the following:
• Maintenance, repair, and construction activities on infrastructure such as roadways, signs, bridges,
ditches, and culverts.
• Placement or repair of traffic control devices.
• General maintenance and safe operation of small equipment and tools.
Due to the nature and diversity of the duties, applicants must be conscientious persons who are self-starters
and able to work under minimal supervision. Some heavy lifting may be required, and additional duties may
be assigned as the need arises.
Preference will be given to applicants possessing:
• A high school diploma.
• A valid Intermediate First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
• A valid Alberta driver’s licence.
• A current driver’s abstract.
The County of Newell offers a competitive salary and benefits as well as excellent training and education
programs. The wage for this position starts at $24.03 per hour, pursuant to the Collective Agreement
between the County of Newell and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032. This position can
begin as early as May 1, 2025, and ends on August 27, 2025.

A pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and an occupational health assessment for new and returning
