EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
NEWELL REGIONAL DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF
The County of Newell is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Newell Regional
Deputy Fire Chief. This is a full-time permanent position that will play a crucial role in ensuring the
provision and integration of emergency services, safety codes compliance, and disaster services
throughout the County of Newell. This role requires a strong understanding of fire service operations
and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and communities.
Areas of Responsibility:
The critical duties of this position include developing and facilitating comprehensive fire certification
training programs, assisting in fire emergency investigations, ensuring compliance with safety codes
in the fire discipline, assisting local Fire Chiefs from 9 Departments with multi-jurisdictional fire service
responses, and overseeing equipment maintenance and vehicle repair programs.
Preference will be given to applicants possessing:
• A high school diploma supplemented by a diploma or degree in fire science, public
administration, or completed coursework towards a diploma or degree in a related
discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the provision of fire suppression, prevention,
and planning as a firefighter.
• Core National Fire Protection Association certifications.
• Alberta Safety Codes Officer training for base competency and technical courses.
• Ability to work efficiently in a computerized environment.
• A valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s Licence with an air brake endorsement.
• A current driver’s abstract.
• Must be bondable.
