HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-04-02 Backup Minibus Driver Ad EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY BACKUP MINI BUS DRIVER The County of Newell is seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated individual to fill the role of Backup Mini Bus Driver, which provides part-time coverage for the Mini Bus service. The County of Newell Mini Bus provides safe and courteous door-to-door transportation for County residents. The primary focus is transporting patrons to and from Brooks for essential appointments such as medical visits, shopping, hairdresser appointments, and social outings, with a key demographic being seniors and individuals with limited mobility. This role plays a key part in promoting independence and quality of life for community members. Roles and Responsibility: • Operate the Mini Bus safely and professionally, with respect for passengers, the public, and other drivers. • Assist passengers getting in and out of the vehicle with due consideration for their mobility needs, wheelchairs, safety straps/belts and ramps. • Must be able to present themselves in a pleasant and polite manner and possess strong organization and communication skills. • Clean the vehicle daily (interior and exterior), including sweeping, mopping, window washing, and power washing, as needed. • Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and maintain fluid levels (fuel, oil, etc.); report any service needs. Qualifications: • Must possess a valid Class 1, 2, or 4 Driver’s Licence. • Experience in providing transportation for seniors and people with disabilities is preferred. • Experience or training with Wheelchair Lift and Restraint Systems is an asset. • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain it, is required. • Familiarity with the County of Newell is considered an asset.
