With the return of fire apparatus and personnel, along with improved fire risk conditions, the Newell Regional
Fire Chief, in conjunction with the County of Newell Fire Bylaw #1958-19 has downgraded the Fire Restriction
to a Fire Advisory for the County of Newell.
A Fire Advisory as stated in the County of Newell Bylaw #1958-19 is defined as:
Fires are allowed, but public warning advising extreme caution is issued. This level is a warning and may be
upgraded to a Fire Restriction or Fire Ban if conditions do not improve.
County of Newell Fire Guardians may issue new fire permits.
County Residents are reminded that a valid, signed fire permit is required before igniting fires on lands. Fire
permits are available at the County of Newell office or online during regular business hours. Permit holders
must contact their local Fire Department before lighting the fire and strictly adhere to all recommendations and
conditions outlined in the permit. Failure to comply may result in fines.
Note: The Fire Advisory does not affect/cover the following properties contained within the boundaries of the
County of Newell: City of Brooks, Town of Bassano, Village of Duchess, Village of Rosemary, Provincial Parks
