Municipal Planning Commission
April 8, 2026 -10:00 AM
The regular Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) Meeting of the County of Newell was held in
the County Office at Brooks, AB and livestreamed to the public on Wednesday, April 8, 2026
commencing at 10:00 a.m.
A notice was posted at the front entrance advising the public of the meeting.

3.1 Minutes - Municipal Planning Commission (March 25, 2026)
P-29/26 MOVED BY COUNCILLOR LYNETTE KOPP that the minutes of the March 25, 2026
Municipal Planning Commission meeting be adopted as presented.

5. ADOPTION OF AGENDA
P-30/26 MOVED BY COUNCILLOR ARNO DOERKSEN that the agenda be adopted as
presented.

6. DEVELOPMENT REPORT (1st MEETING ONLY)
This item was accepted as information.
7. SUBDIVISIONS
7.1 Subdivision 2026-0-002 To subdivide a 3.68-hectare portion of the NW 6-19-
14W4M and consolidate it with the 2.75 hectare parcel in the SW 6-19-
14W4M to create a 6.433-hectare (15.90 acre) parcel.
The Planning & Development Supervisor provided background information on the
item and responded to questions from MPC.
P-31/26 MOVED BY COUNCILLOR GREG SKRIVER that the MPC approve, with conditions,
the subdivision of a 3.68-hectare portion of the NW 6-19-14W4M to be consolidated with
the 2.75-hectare parcel in the SW 6-19-14W4M to create a 6.433-hectare (15.90 acre)
parcel, for the following reasons:
The proposed subdivision is consistent with the SSRP and complies with the County
of Newell MDP, and the Land Use Bylaw.
2. The Subdivision Authority is satisfied that the proposed subdivision is suitable for the
purpose for which the subdivision is intended pursuant to Section 7 of the
Subdivision and Development Regulations.
Conditions to be Considered:
1. That, pursuant to Section 654(1)(d) of the MGA, all outstanding property taxes shall
be paid to the County of Newell.
2. That the applicant supplies copies of any utility right of way plans, easements, and/or
agreements which are to be registered as a requirement for any affected utilities to
the County prior to the subdivision's registration with Alberta Land Titles.
3. That, pursuant to Section 655(1)b of the MGA, the applicant enters into a
Development Agreement with the County which shall be registered concurrently with
the final plan against the title(s) being created.
4. That, pursuant to Section 655(1) a 5-metre-wide portion of land be dedicated by
caveat, along the Rge Rd 150 frontage, for the remnant parcel and the newly created
parcel, for road widening.
5. That the Land Use Amendment Bylaw 2124-26 be approved by Council, changing
the Land Use District from Agriculture, General District to Agriculture, Small Lot
District, prior to the finalization of the subdivision. 1

Reserve:
Municipal Reserve is not applicable as no new lots are being created.
