Minutes 1) Council Minutes -September 9 1999 Minutes of the September 9, 1999 meeting were presented. Moved by Councillor Steinbach that we adopt the minutes as circulated. Alberta Infrastructure -Pheasant Hatchery & Transportation Shop Site A letter from Alberta Infrastructure, in reply to our letter regarding the Brooks Pheasant Hatchery and the Transportation Shop, was presented to Council as information. 7 Other Business 1. Garth Lucas -Course Requirements Moved by Councillor Berg that we approve the courses for Garth Lucas as presented. Carried. 2. Appointment of FOIP Coordinator Moved by Councillor Baksa that we appoint Peggy Hoffman as FOIP Coordinator. Carried. ~ .... 3. Meeting with Other Municipalities -End of October ~' Administration will contact the other municipalities with the possible dates of November 2"d or 3`d for a joint meeting. 8. Millennium Parks Program Councillor Loewen reported that we received only 1 application for the Millennium Parks Program. Moved by Councillor Baksa that we approve the application from Brian Godwin for the Millennium Parks Program with funding ofthe $6,000 from the Public Reserve Fund. Carried. Transportation Proposal The Assistant Administrator was in attendance to report on the September 21 S' meeting that was held in Lethbridge, with regard to the Provincial proposal to take over Secondary Highways. 10. Post Agenda Items 1. Visibili~ of RCMP Moved by Councillor Loewen that a letter be sent to the R.C.M.P. letting them know that we appreciate their efforts within the County of Newell and that, if there is anything we can do to facilitate them in getting more staff, we would be willing to help. Carried. 2. Year 2000 Review of Water Management in South Saskatchewan River Basin Councillor Douglass reported on the meeting that she and Councillor Steinbach attended. 3. Air Quality News Release An Air Quality News Release is scheduled for October 4, 1999. 11. Delegation - Bassano/Empress Railwav Committee The Bassano/Empress Railway Committee, consisting of Rand Berg, Stuart Musgrove, Rod MacLean, Clint Henrickson and Erwin Dick, were in attendance to discuss difficulties encountered with the facilitation for the purchase of the Bassano/Empress Rail Line. 12. Rod MacLean Rod MacLean presented concerns to Council with regard to the rail line adjacent to his property.
