The regular Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. ~ was held
in. the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on. Thursday, April 8, 1971
at 10:00 a.m.

r Minutes of the March 15, 1971 meeting were read anal adopted.
Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we set 50' as the amount of access
road required for the Duckett subdivision.. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we accept the Financial Report for
the month of March. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Musgrove that N. Fakas salary be increased to
$7500.00 per year plus a 7~ in.crease, anal that all other listed
employees as per attached list, receive 7% increase effective
January 1, 1971, Carried.

,~ Musgrove that we accept this road agreement. Carried.
Letter from the Department of Highways & Transport requesting gravel
Agreement for the purchase of 6000 yards of gravel from the Rock Lake
Pit, was read. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we approve this
Lease at the price of 10¢ per cu. yd. and that they pay for all crushing.
Carried.
Letter from the Town. of Bassan.o advising of their withdrawal from the
Brooks-Bassan.o Industrial Bc~d and requesting support from the Coun.t,y
Council was read. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we donate $400.00
to the Brooks Industrial Board anal $100.00 to the Bassano Industrial
Board f~ 1971. Carried.
Letter from Calgary Power Ltd. re; Line Move in. 20-12-4, was read.
Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve this application. subject
to all other regulations being met anal Calgary Power paying full cost
of this line move. Carried.
P.F.A.A. Report #5 was presented anal ordered filed.
Letter from the Canadian. National Institute for the Blind requesting
donation. for 1971, was read. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we
donate $100.00 to the Institute anal that By-law 423 receive first,
second, third anal final reading. Carried Unanimously.

1971 was read. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that n.o donation. be made
to this Organization. Carried.
Letter from the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts anal Counties
re: proposed Plan.n.in.g Foundation, was read. Moved by Councillor
Musgrove th at we write the Department advising them that for the
amount of services that we receive, the mill rate should be reduced
to .02 mills for rural municipalities. Carried.

Letter from the Medicine Hat Regional Plann.in.g Commission. advising of
the 1971 requisition. in the amount of $1475.00 was read. Moved by
Councillor Andrews that we opt out of the Medicine Hat Regional
Planning Commission.. Carried.
Letter from the Premier of Alberta advising of the proposed Student
Work Program for 1971, was read, Moved by Councillor Andrews that we
participate in. this Program anal at least 10 students be involved.

Letter from the Minister of Highways & Transport advising of the
Alb erta Clean.-up Program for 1971, was read anal ordered filed.
Letter from Alberta Government Telephones advising of the sale of
land an.dbuildin.gs in the SE 20-21-18-4 was read anal ordered filed.
Letter from the Alberta Government Telephones advising sale of site
anal buildings in. Part SE 17-17-12-4, was read anal ordered filed.
