September 16th, 1966.
The regular monthly meeting of the County Council was held in the County
Office in Brooks, Alta. at 10:00 a.mR on Friday, September 16th, 1966.

The minutes of the previous meeting of August 12th, and the Road Study
Group August 31st were read and adopted.

A tender from the Town of Brooks, offering $14.000.00 for the Old School
Division Property Lots 25,26 and the North 5ft. of Lt 27 Block 5 Plan
2859. Brooks was read and discussed.

Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the tender of the Town of Brooks,
$14,000.00 for the Old School Division property as above, be accepted.

Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that the Secretary's monthly report of
Receipts, Payments and monthly progress to August 31, 1966 be accepted.
Carried.
Moved. by Councillor Chrumka, that the final payment of $34,741.13 be
paid to Bird Construction for the Construction of the New Office Building,
Carried.
A letter from Beny's Shell Service re garbage disposal was read &
discussed.
It was unanimously agreed that the County will accept no responsibility
for Town of Brooks charges with regard to rural garbage disposal.
Notice was received of the A.A.M.D. Convention to be held in Calgary,
November 15 - 18th, 1966.
Moved by Councillor Chrumka, that an allowance of $125.00 be paid to each
delegate attending the A..A..M.D. Convention in Calgary.
Carried.
Correspondence, and Plans of the proposed renovations at the B.AR
Service Station on the No. 1 Highway, Brooks, was read and discussed,
Moved dry Councillor Douglass, that the proposed renovations to the B.A.
Service Station on the No. 1 Highway, North of Brooks, be approved subject
to Prov. Gov't regulations. Carried.
Advice with regard to Centennial Project Markers was received and noted
by each Councillor.

A Bid of $25,00 by Ernest Lehr, on the old Restaurant property in
Patricia was read and discussed.
Moved by Councillor Musgrove, that the tender of Ernest Lehr, $25.00 to
purchase Lot 13 Block 2, Plan 1217 BA Patricia, "Buildings", be accepted
on condition that the buildings be removed, and the lot be cleared of all
debris by December 1st 1966. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that the report of the School Committee
be accepted. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Bergen, that his Form "A" for Div. 7, 1966 Roadwork
be amended from rebuilding Road 66- 24 to gravelling on various roads
as outlined in his supplementary Form "A" due to the adverse weather
conditions. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that the accounts for payment, being
cheques no, 2407 to 2630, as listed, be passed for payment,
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that the resolution to set Friday, Nov.4th
1966 as the nomination day, copy of which is attached to and forms part
of the minutes of this meeting be approved and passed. Carried.

~ A letter from Jim Wilfley, containing a counter-offer with regard to his
gravel supply, was read and discussed.
The Secretary was directed to advise Mr. Wilfley that his counter-offer
was not acceptable, and would request that the original offer of the
County be given his further consideration.

on Aida Irrigation Studies, be endorsed by the County.

the County, be given First Reading. Carried.

Resolution
A resolution of the County of Newell No. 4 to provide for the holding
of Nomination Day on a day other that prescribed in the Municipal
District Act, Sec. 96, Par. 1 & 3.
Whereas, under the provisions of The Municipal District Act Sec. 96,
Par. 3, Nominations for Councillors may be held on a day other that
the First Saturday in November
and whereas, the County Council is of the opinion that doing so would
be in the best interest of the County,
Therefore be it resolved, that nominations for Councillors in Divisions
2, 4 & 8 of the County be held in the County Office in the Town of
Brooks on Friday, November 4th, 1966 as provided for under Sec. 96,
Par. 3 of the Municipal Districts Act.
