~ ~ GJ ~ i.J County of Newell No. 4 Joint Meeting with the Eastern Irrigation District Board December 8, 1964 This meeting was called at the request of the Eastern Irrigation District Board, to discuss various controverseal subjects that are common to both organizations. Present at the meeting. Reeve Councillors Sec.-Treas. Representing the E.I.D. Manager Board Member Staff Member Representing the Prov. of Alberta, Dept. of Agriculture Jas. Hajash Geo. Larsen A. Chrumka F. Mandeville R. Armstrong D. Grosfield H.C. Scammell R.T. White J.Graham M. Ryan G. Barnes S.C. Feterson S. Saunders C.J. McAndrews, Chairmanm Drainage Committee R. Francis, Construction Engineer. It was unanimously agreed that Reeve J. Hajash be Chairman of the meeting. The agenda prepared by the Eastern Irrigation District was approved. Mr.-White introduced the Provincial Government representatives prev- ious n to the discussion on drainage, which was centered around a pro- posed drainage works agreement, copy of which is attached to and forms part of these minutes. Mr. Gordon Barnes brought up the proposal of the Department of Education to include all County land into organized schooldistricts the County view, in the matter was presented by Councillors Mandeville and Armstrong who stressed the importance of having all land bear equally in providing the necessary revenue to operate the County. m The matter of assessment of grazing lands in the County received considerable attention, and was discussed in detail by Reeve Hajash. The recent correspondence from the Assessment Commissioner with regard to the 1965 assessment was presented and read by Mr. Whine. Mr. Jim Graham spoke with regard to the Commutation of Water Rates as it affects any irrigable land that may be taken due to road con- struction.
