County Council
March 6th, 1959.
The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County of Ilzewell ~ ~
was held in the County Office in Brooks, Alberta, at 10:00 a.m.
on Friday, March 6th, 1959.

The ~rinutes of the meetings of February 6th & 21st were read.

Moved by councillor Vossler that the Secretary;s monthly statement
of Receipts and Expenditures for the month of February be accepted,

Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth that Bylaw Tdo. 17g to donate ~ 25.00
to the Hudson Bay Route Assn. be given lst, 2nd acid 3rd readings
and finally passed.

Tiie Secretary was directed to apply for Special Contingency Grant
for finishing the gravelling of the Kinbrook Island Park road and
the continuance of the said road south and west to connect with
the Highway 36 north of Scandia.

for the Bpw City`roa~ as it relates to the Kleenbirn Collieries,

Correspondence from Departffient of Highways and Bryce Stringam re the
Tilley Trans-Canada approach road was read and ordered filed.

A letter from the Department of Education and copy of the answer from
Meech, Mitchell, Robins re alterations to plans of the Tilley school
addition were read and ordered filed.

Acknowledgement was received from Town of Brooks re the Maintenance Yard
and the Secretary was directed to endeavour to obtain the additional
parcel west to have included in the survey.

The School Committee reported that the new Rosemary school had been taken
over by the County as at March 1st, 1959: and that it was now occupied.
The official opening was to be March 14, 1959.

The claim of insufficient heating 3.n the Rosemary teacherage was
discussed and it was requested that Mr. Coleman, the contractor,
be approached to rectify the situation.

It was reported that the Duchess and Tilley addition contracts
were being processed satisfactorily.

The Secretary reported that enquiries had been made by Medhurst
Drilling Co. as to thepossibility of drilling gas wells to supply schools.

Nerved by Councillor Lokier that on the basis of the request by the
ta~cpayers in the Rainier-.Scandia etc, areas, consideration be given to
the implementation of hail suppression in the areas defined.

Municipal Districts Act.
Moved by Councillor Lokier that Bylaw No. 180 to provide for the
entering into a Weather Modification Agreement with Irving P. Krick
Associates of Canada Ltd. for 1959, ~e given 1st, 2nd and 3rd readings
and finally passed. Carried,.Unan.

Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth that Ken Lintott be appointed as
Returning Officer for the hail suppression plebiscite April 16, 1959.
