County Council
January 10th, 1958.
The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County of
Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office ~ in Brooks, Alberta
at 10:00 a,m, on Friday, January 10th, 1958.

The minutes of the meeting of December 6th, 1957 were read
and adopted. ~

Moved by Councillor Douglass that the 5earetary~s report of
Receipts and Expenditures for the month of December be accepted.

Moved by Councillor Mortensen that the 1957 assessment be adopted
for use in the County for the year 1958.

Moved by Councillor l~dorden that Mr. V. H. Lawrence be appointed
as assessor for the County of Newell for the year 1958.

The Secretary was directed to sign the Change Order No. 3 for the
Rolling Hills school.

The Secretary was directed to withhold payment of the architect
and the contractor in full, until such time as all of the work
had been completed to the satisfaction of the Council. r'

A letter from Can. Tex Drilling Co. re the road allowance through
dec. 36 - 17 - 13 - 4 was read and ordered filed. i

Moved by Councillor McAleeae that Bylaw No. lbb authorizing a
donation of ~$ 600,00 to the salvation .Army be given 1st, 2nd and
Jrd readings and finally passed.

Defence Committee to establish a headquarters in Brooks in
conjunction with the Town of Brooks and that a maximum expenditure
of ~ 3000,00 be allotted for this purpose.

Resolution.
A resolution for the purpose of cancelling three (3) road
diversions Plans No. 11160 and 11&63 in the 'Gt2 21, 'Wz lb
and N. 5d. 19, all in Township 18, Range 14, ?J. 4th M.,
being now deemed unnecessary by reason of the rebuilding
of the Kinbrook Island Road to all weather standard.
3~iHEEiEAS the original road allowance in the sections
wherein the above mentioned diversions are located
has now bean widened and an all weather highway
constructed.
,AND 'WHEREAS the previously surveyed road diversions will
no longer be used for the purpose to which
they were originally intended.
AND WHEREAS it would appear prudent to cancel the said road
diversions at this time.
THEREFORE be it resolved that request be made to the Director
of Surveys, Edmonton, Alberta, to have Road
Diversions Plans 11160 and 17.63 cancelled.
Done and passed this 10th day of 3anuary, 1958.
