HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-01-14 Council (Regular) MinutesCOUNTY OF NEWELL NO. 4 COUNTY COUNCIL January 14th, 1955: In accordance with the motion contained in the minutes of the regular council meeting of January 8, 1955 a Special Meeting of the Council was hold in the County Office in Brooks at 1:30 p, m, on Friday, January 14th, 1955• Members present Chairman Councillor s Secretary -Treasurer N . Anderson. of The meeting was called for the purpose discussing with the E. I, D. Board Members any controversial and contentious problems that affect the two organizations. ]ter. Bryce Stringam, Chairman of the E. I. D. Board was appointed as chairman by the mutual consent of the members present, The Board expressed their concern over the increased mill rate on Grazing Lands in the County , Assurance was given by the Council members that the increase did not in any way increase the revenue of the County, but did only spread the increasing cost of County operation more fairly and equitably. A suggestion put forward by the Board with regard to Joint Managership and amalgamation for machinery and work was discussed. The Council, while recognizing the possibilities preferred to give more time and consideration to the proposal.
