COUNTY COUNCIL
January 14th, 1955:
In accordance with the motion contained in the
minutes of the regular council meeting of January 8,
1955 a Special Meeting of the Council was hold
in the County Office in Brooks at 1:30 p, m,
on Friday, January 14th, 1955•

Manager Mr. C. Anderson.

The meeting was called for the purpose discussing
with the E. I, D. Board Members any controversial
and contentious problems that affect the two
organizations.
]ter. Bryce Stringam, Chairman of the E. I. D. Board
was appointed as chairman by the mutual consent
of the members present,
The Board expressed their concern over the increased
mill rate on Grazing Lands in the County ,
Assurance was given by the Council members that
the increase did not in any way increase the
revenue of the County, but did only spread the
increasing cost of County operation more fairly
and equitably.
A suggestion put forward by the Board with regard
to Joint Managership and amalgamation for machinery
and work was discussed. The Council, while recognizing
the possibilities preferred to give more time and
consideration to the proposal.
In response to the Countyts request to purchase the
balance of the Gravel Site at Control, The Board
indicated its willingness to protect the Countyts
interest in any gravel locations within the County.,

very little was gained with regard to the problem

The Boardts complaint with regard to the nun
payment of accounts was given every consideration,
and it was pointed out that invariably the delay
was due for the most part to items contained in
the accounts.for work not authorised by a
Councillor at County Official.*

Matters pertaining to the Duchess Road and the
Aassiis Drain were freely discussed by the
Councillors emeerned: and will result in further
Investigations
The Secretary advised that the buildings at the
Brooks Air Part were assessed in accordance with
the Assessment Aeto
It was suggested that it would clarify the contentions
bridge and culvert responsibility problemp if
the existing maps made in 1935 were checked and
brought up to date•
