COUNTY COUNCIL
January 8th, 1955.
The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the
County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County
Office at Brooks, Alberta, at 10:00 a.m. on
Saturday, January 8th= 1955:

The minutes of the meeting of December 11, 1954
were read and adopted.
Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth' that Mr. Adamson
be requested to replace the inferior coal at
Imperial Colony School without charge for hauling*
Carried„
Moved by Councillor Waraksal that the Secretaryts
report of Revenues and Expenditures for the month
of December be accepted,* Carried„
Advice was received from Prairie Farm Assistance,
to the effect that payment of $ 2.50 per acre
would be made to claims in Township 17: Range 16,
W 4th, and that Township 25, Range 16, was
ineligible ,

Moved by Councillor Mckleese that the offer of
J. Stephens to purchase the "Bower's House" for
100,00 be refused•
Carried.
The Secretary was directed to deal with a letter
from the C. P. R. re the removal of the cattle
guards on the Gem Spur.
A letter from the Dircetor of kssessments with
regard to the splitting of parcels without survey
was read and ordered filed,
Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the Inspectors
report be held for reading at the annual Meeting

Carried,
It was unanimously agreed that a meeting be held
with the Board of the Eastern Irrigation DistAct
at 1:30 p,►m. on Friday, January 14th, 1955»

Correspondence from the Departments of Education
and Municipal affairs together with the Ministerial
Order aljtering the boundaries of the County were
presented and ordered filed*
Moved by Councillor Ockey, that the County purchase
the Weigh Scale at Rolling Hills, presently owned
by the Farmers Union, and that they be leased back
to that organization for 99 years for the same sum*

Correspondence with regard to the Duchess School
from Department of Education and Keech Mitchell
was read and ordered filed,
Moved by Councillor arrison, that architects
Supervision by Meech Mitchell and Assoc, be requested
f or the new Duchess School:
Carried.

Moved by Councillor Lokier that the account of
Mahoney & Starritt $ 2933893, charges in the Standard
-,' Gravel collection, be paid.

Municical.
It was recommended that efforts be made to obtain
the gravel site at Control from the Be I* D.
The former School Division 2 Tor. Truck was re-
commended to be traded ins and replaced by a 1954
or 1955 3 mon Truck*
Adjourned 1 to 2 pe me for lunch*
School.
Attention was brought of the possible loss of
equalization grant due to increase in assessment
brought about by the revaluation.
Recommended the rent value of teacherages to be
assessed by Mr. Lloyd.

Board transfer its office to the former School
Division Office.

It was recommended that the A. S. Be Supervisor
cooperate with the General Foreman in the matter of
backsloping roads,
Por, E. W. Brunsden met the Council to discuss
Insurance,
Moved by Councillor.Arrison that the County carry
its Public Liability Insurance with the .Alberta
Association of MDs, and the Fire Insurance locally.
