Minutes of Council Meeting
June 24, 2004
The regular Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County
Office at Brooks, AB on Thursday, June 24, 2004 commencing at 10:04 a.m.

1. Excused From Meeting
Moved by Councillor Vermeeren that Councillor Musgrove, Harbinson, and Moss be
~., excused from the meeting. Carried.
2. Minutes
Council Minutes -June 10, 2004
Minutes of the June 10, 2004 meeting were presented. Moved by Councillor
Vermeeren that we adopt the minutes as presented. Carried.
3. Call for Post Agenda Items
The Reeve called for post agenda items.

Moved by Councillor Fabian that we adopt the agenda as amended. Carried.

1. Fire Bylaw 1461-04
No further information was presented.
2. Water/Sewer Comparison - 2002 versus 2003 Operating Costs
Finance Officer, Susan Shigehiro, was in attendance at the meeting and arrived at 10:07
a.m.
The Finance Officer presented awater/sewer 2002 versus 2003 operating costs
comparison report to Council.
Finance Officer, Susan Shigehiro, left the meeting at 10:15 a.m.

There were no correspondence items.
7. Other Business
1. Treasurer's Report - May
The Treasurer's Report for May, 2004 was presented to Council. Moved by Councillor
Fabian that the Treasurer's Report for Maybe accepted. Carried.
2. 2004 Roadwork Program
Public Works Superintendent, Rick Baine, was in attendance at the meeting and arrived
at 10:15 a.m.
The Public Works Superintendent distributed the proposed 2004 Roadwork Program to
Council. This program will be reviewed at the July Municipal Committee Meeting.

Moved by Councillor Vermeeren that we approve this agreement. Carried.
8. Pandemic Influen2a
The Deputy Director of Disaster Services, Rick Baine, presented Council with
information on pandemics that was presented June 9th at the Brooks Campus of the
Medicine Hat College.
9. Post Agenda Items
1. Encanna Partnershiu/Road Up~radin~
Council directed the Public Works Superintendent to contact Encanna to investigate the
possibility of partnering on road upgrades. This item will be discussed further at the
July Workshop.

Councillor Vermeere 'formed Council that a was invited as a representative of
Council to the ' School C~ra~ Moved by Councillor Fabian that
Councillor Vermeeren attend the Scandia High School Graduation as an Officer of
County Council and that he be reimbursed as per County Policy. Carried.
