The regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County of Newell

the inequitable burden of school costs,

to the inclusion of all lands within the boundaries of the
County to bear school taxes, attached to and forming a part j
of the minutes of this meeting, be passed,

Receipts and Payments for the month of February be accepted.

Mr, Brojnstein met the Council to discuss the unsatisfactory
floor laying at the Rolling Hills school.

~'~le stated that the unevenness was due to the type of the used
and that in time this would correct itself.

He is prepared to give an undertaking that if the floor is not
in a satisfactory condition 1 year from the date of the taking
over of the school by the County, he will then complete whatever
is necessary for the purpose.

Mr. Brojnstein was advised that consideration would be given ~
to his offer.

Moved by Councillor McAleese that the transfer of .22 acres of the
N«E, 12-20-14-4 from Phillip Jensen to Agnes Jensen be approved. ~

a letter from the Department of Municipal Affairs, advising that
the County is not authorized to purchase shares in the Brooks

Bridge authorization was received from the Bridge Branch re the
construction of anew precast concrete bridge over the E.I,D.
canal on the Kinbrook Park Road» ~

:A letter from the Department of Education criticizing the
workmanship on the Rolling Hills school was read. ~

The :Secretary was directed to bring it to the attention of the 1
architects with a view to having the situation corrected at once, ~-

supervising the water and sewer installation at Rolling Hills
was tabled until next meeting. ''

Resolution
March 13, 1958.
Subject: Inclusion of unorganized lands into
School Districts.

NOW
request is again being made by the ratepayers of the County
for the County Council to take steps to correct the discriminatory
condition created in this County by the large area of lands not
bearing any share of the cost of education.'
the County Council is of the opinion that there is justification
in this request and unanimously endorses it,
be it resolved that this County Council does hereby appeal
to the Department of Education to take steps to have all
of the lands witho~n the boundaries of the County of Newell No. 4
established in school districts for the purpose of correcting
the inequitable situation that exists at this time.
