HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-21 Breach of Bylaws - Penalties COUNTY OF NEWELL IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA BYLAW NO. 2003-21 BEING A BYLAW OF THE COUNTY OF NEWELL, IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR BREACHING ANY BYLAWS OF THE COUNTY OF NEWELL. WHEREAS, Section 7(i) of the Municipal Government Act, RSA. 2000 c. M-26 provides that council may pass bylaws and have enforcement on those bylaws, create offences related to those bylaws and, impose penalties by imposing a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for not more than one year, or both. NOW THEREFORE, the Council for the County of Newell in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, hereby enacts as follows: Any person contravenes any provision of a Bylaw of the County of Newell shall be liable to a fine of minimum $200.00 and not exceeding $10,000 for each offence, or the amount provided under another Bylaw of the County of Newell. This Bylaw shall come into force and effect on the final day of passing thereof and rescinds Bylaw 1172-96 February 25, 2021 MOVED BY COUNCILLOR BRIAN DE JONG that Bylaw 2003-21 receive FIRST reading.
