The Hamlet of Tilley is the only Hamlet with solid waste door‐to‐door collection services, as requested by the community. The County of Newell therefore solicits bids for Solid Waste Collection Services for the Hamlet of Tilley where costs are fully recovered from Hamlet users. Homeowner/Tenant/Business Owner responsibilities include:  Household solid waste only (see below for what is NOT allowed).  Household solid waste must be bagged and placed in animal proof containers, including secure lids.  Containers must be set out not later than 6:30 AM each Wednesday for it to be picked up by the Contractor. Contractor responsibilities include:  Collecting household solid waste on the Wednesday of each week of the Calendar Year.  Collecting household solid waste not earlier than 7:00 AM on Wednesdays.  Collecting household solid waste only, bagged, and only removed from animal proof containers.  Transport collected household solid wastes in a safe secure manner to the NRSWMA Tilley Transfer Station.  Report weekly to the County any issues/concerns of household solid wastes or other wastes not meeting contract standards for pick up. This service is only for the weekly collection of household solid wastes. The Contractor shall not remove from any location any of the following:  Bagged waste that is not in animal proof containers,  Non‐bagged or loose solid waste,  Liquids,  Yard waste including lawn clippings, dirt, and leaves/branches,  Recyclable material,  Unknown waste materials,  Appliances and/or furniture,  Construction materials, and/or  Any other waste or material not identifiable as household waste. Disposal of these wastes is the responsibility of the homeowner/tenant/business owner. The NRSWMA Tilley Transfer Station is located at NW ¼ Sec. 35‐17‐13‐W4M (approximately 1.6 Km west on Old Hwy 1 and 0.80 Kms north on R13‐2) and is available for your use Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Please note these days and hours of operation are subject to change. Please refer to the website for updates or call in advance. Tilley Recycle Depot is operated by Newell Recycling Association. You can also email at newellra@telus.net or visit the Newell Recycling Association (NRA) main building at 279 Veiner Road (South Industrial Park), Brooks, Alberta. The Tilley Recycle Depot is located near the Tilley Community Hall (east side) and is available for your use 24 hours per day 365 days per year. Newell Regional Landfill (NRL) is operated by Newell Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (NRSWMA). The NRL is located at NW & NE ¼ Sec. 34‐19‐15‐W4M (just north of Hwy 1 & Hwy 36 intersection) and is available at different times based on season, as described below: Summer: April 1 ‐ October 31 Monday – Saturday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Closed on Sundays & Statutory Holidays Winter: November 1 – March 31 Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Saturday 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Closed on Sundays & Statutory Holidays If you are experiencing issues with solid waste collection or have questions of acceptable household solid wastes please contact the Municipal Service Department at 403‐362‐3266 during business hours, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday – Friday, excepting Statutory Holidays.
