HomeMy WebLinkAboutFrequently Asked Questions 2024 Emerson Bridge Park FAQ When will Emerson Bridge Park Campground be open for the 2024 Camping season? Emerson Bridge Park will open for the Seasonal campers at 12:00 pm on May 13/2024, and will open for all other campers at 8:00 am on May 16/2024. Day-to-day and monthly camping will be on a first come first serve basis. Will there be seasonal and monthly sites available this year? Yes, this has been an extremely popular camping choice since its inception. So once again we will have designated seasonal sites to choose from for seasonal bookings (must be pre booked before May 13, 2024). (6) - Full-Service Sites – 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 25 (8) - Power Sites - 30, 35, 44, 52, 62, 68, 69, 75 (Please refer to the Park Map in Links for site locations). How will we book seasonal sites for the 2024 camping season? We will be accepting Campsite Use Agreements starting on Mar 1, 2024, at 8:00 am, first come first serve. These agreements may be e-mailed to schaapw@newellmail.ca . These agreements will be processed in order received. If your preferred designated site has been selected by another camper, you will have the option of choosing a different designated site. Once you have been selected, a deposit of 25% will be required (with remainder due prior to move in). Agreements may be downloaded from this site or contact schaapw@newellmail.ca to have a copy sent to you. Any agreements received before Mar 1,2024 at 8:00 am will not be accepted. How will we book monthly sites for the 2024 camping season? Month-long rentals are on a first-come first-serve basis. Any site that you are currently occupying may be booked for a month at a time until Aug 20/24. If I have a Campsite Agreement, can my friends and family use it when I am not using it? The Campsite Agreement is not transferable. Only one camping unit will be registered to that site. Family or friends may stay in your camping unit on that site, or if there is room, they are welcome to set up their own camping unit. Any additional units on the site would be responsible for paying regular overnight camping fees. Max occupancy per site is two family units with (8 people total (park supervisors’ discrepancy). Do I have to park my camping unit on the site at time of registration? If you are staying for daily or weekend use, yes, your camping unit must be on the site. Monthly permit holders will also be required to be on site upon original registration. For seasonal permit holders, you will not have to park your camper on the site for the entirety of the permit. Seasonal and Monthly permit holders can come and go as they please with their camping units. No other campers may use these sites. As per our seasonal and monthly agreements. Can I use a tent at Emerson this season? We have sites classified as Non-Power sites, some of these may also be used by campers and some would be designated as tenting only. If you prefer using a power site when tenting, a single tent or the first tent of a max of three tents with (8 people total (park supervisors’ discrepancy) will pay power site rates, the remaining tents will be at a tenting rate. We do have underground irrigation within the park, so use caution when inserting tent pegs. (Please stay on designated sites). Can I visit my Friends/Family that has a site at Emerson Bridge Park? Family and friends are welcome. Please do not park or drive on grassed areas, or in other campsites. Please use designated parking areas. Is Emerson Bridge Park open for Day Use? Yes, Day use area is available from 10:00am till 8:00pm. Please respect our registered guests and follow the rules posted at the Shelter/Day use area. Register your group at the registration office as we need to know who is in the park should emergencies arise. Do not park or drive on grassed areas, or in any campsites. Please use designated parking areas. Does Emerson Bridge Park have group camping available? Having a wedding, family reunion or other social functions. The overflow area of the park will accommodate a variety of events. Unfortunately, power is unavailable in the overflow area. These functions would need to be pre-booked by calling the County of Newell office at 403-362-3266 anytime or 403-362-1702 during the camping season. Can I still go for a walk at Emerson? Yes you can. Even if you are not camping at the park, come and enjoy the hiking trails. The only requirement is that you will need to leave your vehicle in one of the designated parking areas. Picnic areas available. Please refer to the Park Map in Links for hiking trail locations. Is there fishing close by? The Red Deer River runs adjacent to the park, within walking distance of most of the campsites, and hosts a broad selection of fish. Caution is needed along some areas of the river when the water levels are running high as some of the riverbank is unstable. Watch for signage, Fish at your own risk. Is the canoe launch open? Yes, the canoe launch area will be available for leisure boaters. At your own risk, you are welcome to drop off and/or pick up at the designated area. We have added a couple of campsites at the launch area for those that are boating the river and need a place to stay. We just ask that you check in at the registration office (short walk from launch area), or if you are leaving a vehicle in parking area for extended period of time. Is camping available once the park closes for the season? Yes, we do allow after season camping in the park until Dec 1st of that camping season.
