Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Grader Operator will contribute to the goals, values, and success of the County. Duties include: • Fully participate in the Health and Safety Management System. • Operating a motor grader in accordance with all applicable Standards, Acts, and Legislation. • Responsible for all aspects of the motor grader, including regular maintenance and safety. • Road grading that includes spreading and levelling earth, sand, gravel, and rock. • Winter road maintenance plowing gravel roads. • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to tree cutting, chipping, and removal. • Heavy lifting required. Preference will be given to applicants possessing a high school diploma supplemented by the following: • Minimum valid Class 5 Drivers License - Class 3 or Class 1 preferred. • Grader Operation experience combined with infrastructure construction and maintenance experience is required. • Must possess the ability to accurately document and log work assigned in accordance with County procedures. • Professional Training on the use of a motor grader is preferred. • First Aid and CPR training is preferred. • All applicants are required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract. The County of Newell offers a highly competitive salary as well as excellent training and education programs and benefits. The salary range for this position is $36.92 to $44.17 per hour. This is a unionized position, and the wage is pursuant to the CUPE Local 1032 contract. A Pre-employment drug screening and Occupational Health Assessment for new and returning employees is required as per policy. The successful candidate is required to provide a clear Criminal Records Check prior to employment. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
