EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
SEASONAL LABOURER
The County of Newell Municipal Services Department is now accepting applications to join our team as Seasonal
Labourer. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the seasonal labourer will contribute to the goals, values, and
success of the County.
Duties include:
• Fully participate in the Health and Safety Management System.
• Summer labour maintenance activities with roadways, signs, bridges, ditches, and culverts.
• This position is responsible for the safe operation of fleet trucks, small equipment, and tools.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Heavy lifting required.
Preference will be given to applicants possessing a high school diploma supplemented by the following:
• Class 5 Drivers License.
• Experience with road infrastructure construction and maintenance.
• Must possess the ability to accurately document and log work assigned in accordance with County procedures.
• First Aid and CPR training is preferred.
• All applicants are required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract.
The County of Newell offers a highly competitive salary as well as excellent training and education programs and benefits.
The salary for this position starts at $22.93 per hour. This is a unionized position, and the wage is pursuant to the CUPE
Local 1032 contract. This position can begin as early as April 25, 2024, and end on August 28, 2024.
A Pre-employment Drug Screening and Occupational Health Assessment for new and returning employees is required as
per policy. The successful candidate is required to provide a clear Criminal Records Check prior to employment. This
position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
