You will meet new people and create lasting friendships. Reporting to the Manager of Agricultural Services, the seasonal agricultural Labourer will contribute to the goals, values, and success of the County. Duties include the following; • Mowing and trimming of Hamlets, subdivisions, County buildings and signs. • General maintenance and safe operation of small equipment and tools. • Assist with weed control programs along the Red Deer and Bow River. • Provide maintenance of Emerson Bridge Park. Due to the nature and diversity of the duties, applicants must be conscientious persons who are self-starters and able to work under minimal supervision. Some heavy lifting may be required. Other duties may be assigned as the need arises. Preference will be given to applicants possessing a high school diploma supplemented by: • Minimum valid Class 5 Driver' License. • Vulnerable Sector Check is required. • First Aid and CPR training is preferred. • All applicants are required to provide a current Drivers Abstract. • Good interpersonal skills and knowledge of Agricultural practices. The County of Newell offers a highly competitive salary as well as excellent training and education programs and benefits. The salary for this position starts at $22.13 per hour. This position can begin as early as May 1, 2024, and end on August 23, 2024. A Pre-employment Drug Screening and Occupational Health Assessment for new and returning employees is required as per policy. The successful candidate will be required to provide a clear Criminal Records Check prior to employment.
