NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
COUNTY OF NEWELL
IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA
PROPOSED BYLAW 2066-24
11:30 a.m. April 25, 2024
County of Newell Council Chambers
PURSUANT to sections 230, 606, and 692 of the Municipal Government Act, Statutes of Alberta, Chapter M-
26, 2000, as amended, the Council of the County of Newell in the Province of Alberta hereby gives notice of
its intention to consider Bylaw 2066-24 being an amendment to the existing municipal Land Use Bylaw 2016-
21.
THE PURPOSE of proposed Bylaw No. 2066-24 is to update the Land Use Bylaw to include policy that will
create efficiencies in the development permit process. The Council of the County of Newell wished to amend
the following sections of the Land Use Bylaw, in accordance with Schedule ‘A’ attached:
• Table 2: Development Not Requiring Permit
• 3.10 Accessory Buildings/Structures
• 3.58 Signs Not Requiring a Permit
• 4.14 Live/Work Units
• 4.17 Secondary Suites (External)
And to amend Section 5 - Changes to permitted and discretionary uses in the Agriculture, General District (A-
GEN), Agricul ture, Small Lot (A-SML), Agricultural, Hamlet Transitional (A-HAM), Residential, Manufactured
Home Park District (R-MAN), Residential, Hamlet District (R-HAM), Business Hamlet District (B-HAM), Business,
Rural District (B-RUR), Industrial, General District (I-GEN) and Special, Parks and Public Services District (S-PPS)
Land Use Districts.
And to amend Section 6 – Glossary to amend the definition of Campground, and add a definition for School,
Colony, in accordance with Schedule ‘A’ attached.
THEREFORE, TAKE NOTICE THAT a public hearing to contemplate the proposed Bylaw No. 2066-24 will be
held in the County of Newell Council Chambers at 11:30 a.m. on the 25th day of April 2024.
A copy of the proposed bylaw may be inspected at the County of Newell office during normal business hours.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT anyone wishing to make a presentation regarding the proposed bylaw
should contact the Chief Administrative Officer no later than 4:00 p.m. on the 18th day of April 2024. Both
written and/or verbal presentations may be given at the public hearing.
