Special Council Meeting
May 24, 1985
A Special Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held
in the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on May 24, 1985 commencing
at 10:00 a.m.

Waiver of Notice of Special Meeting is attached to and forms part
of these minutes.
Mr. Archie Grover, Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs, was in
attendance at this meeting and the Council discussed the various
proposals and possible changes to the Electoral Boundaries within
the County of Newell to meet Government regulations of representation
by population. After discussion on this item, it was moved by
Councillor Scheuerman that we establish a system of 10 Electoral
Divisions within the County of Newell and that the split take place
in Division 5. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Workes that Division 5 be split by taking Township
19 Ranges 13 & 14, with an estimated population of 650, and renumber
this new Division as ~k10, and that the balance of present Division
5 remain as Division 5 with an estimated population of 715. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Workes that the Division 9 boundary be changed
by transferring Township 23 Range 18 from Division 6 giv}-ng--ate ~ "

Further discussion took place in regard to this item with no further
action being taken on the motion as passed on May 23rd. This item
will be discussed at a future Council Meeting.
