Special Council Meeting
May 12, 1983
A Special Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was.
held in the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on Thursday, May 12/83
at 1:30 p.m.

1. Letter Calling Special Meeting
A letter from the Reeve calling the Special Meeting is attached
to, and forms part of, these minutes.
2. Waiver of Notice
Waiver of Notice for Special Meeting is attached to, and forms
part of, these minutes.
3. Contracting of Road Work, Construction & Gravel
Due to the strike situation, a lengthy discussion took place
in regard to the contracting of road work construction and
gravelling. After discussion it was moved by Councillor Hall
that we proceed with the contracting for work and gravelling
in Division 9, Division 6, the JoAnn/No. 1 Highway connector
road, and the Economic Stabilization Grant Funds. Carried.
4. Grader Contracting
Discussion took place in regard to this item. It was agreed
that we would hire contract graders when an emergency situation
arises and when the P.W. Supervisor is advised of these situations
from the Council~,~'!~ \,~°
5. Gravelling
Discussion took place on this item and it was moved by Councillor
Andrews that we start our Gravelling Program for 1983 where
practical. Carried.
6. C.U.P.E. Up-date
The Negotiating Committee gave their report on the C.U.P.E.
negotiations to date. No further action was taken on the matter.
This is to be discussed at the regular Council Meeting on May 19th.
