The regular Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held
in the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on Thursday, September 13, 1979
commencing at 10:45 a.m.

Moved by Councillor Janzen that we resubmit an application to the

The Assistant Administrator is to write a letter requesting examples
of wrongful acts, insurance and price.

Letter from Alberta Housing & Public Works advising that our application
for Community Service Program Grant of $464,000,00 for the AgriPlex was
not approved, was presented to the Council for information.

Letter from Alberta Environment regarding delays experienced in
approving land fill sites, was read to the Committee for information,
3. .Office of the Premier
Letter from tha Office of the Premier regarding the establishment of
sites for garbage disposal was read to the Committee for information.
Moved by Councillor Brockelsby that a letter be sent to the Honorable
Jack Cookson regarding the problems and difficulties the County has
encountered in getting these sites approved. Carried.
4. Alberta Munici al Affairs
Letter from Alberta Municipal Affairs re: Farmland General Assessment
was read to the Council for their information.
5. Old Dutch
Letter from Old Dutch Foods Ltd. requesting approval of a warehouse
for potato chips and snacks, was presented to the Committee. Moved
by Councillor Hajash that we have no objection to this warehouse
;~ ! subject to our 125' by-law being respected. Carried.

6. Muscular Dystroph Association
Letter from Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada was presented to
the Council for information. Moved by Councillor Christensen that we
donate $100.00 to this Association. Carried.
7. Village of Tille
Letter from the Village of Tilley re: co-operation with the County
and the Town of Brooks for possible funding of the Medicine Hat
Junior College Extension was presented to the Council for information.
~8. Town of Bassano
Letter from the Town of Bassano regarding funding for the Medicine
Hat Junior College Extension was read to the Committee for their
information.
A meeting of the Town and Villages is to be set up in the near future.
400. Delegation - D.A. Martin & Associates
A delegation from D.A. Martin & Associates met with the Council to
discuss the construction of the 862. Moved by Councillor Janzen
that we hire a Project Manager who will be responsible for machinery
and equipment needed to build the 862. Carried.
Moved, by Councillor Fabian that a Committee of three be set up to
hire this Project rlanager. Carried.

Mr. Pat fluffy, of the E..I.D., met with Council to discuss culvert
installations-on the Bow City Road and in the SE 28-17x16-4 and
NE 16-17~-16-4, Moved by Councillor Brockelsby that we approve
the Road Use Agreement for the installation of these culverts,

' Moved by Councillor Brockelsby that we approve the site plan of the
proposed new ditches providing the construction is kept 8 metres from
the edge of all road right-of-ways. Carried.

406. ~ Lights - duchess Railway Crossing
loved by Councillor Grosfeld that a letter be sent to the Canadian
department of Transport requesting a feasibility study on installing
lights at the Duelers railroad crossing, Carried.

and installation of an Atco Office Building for the P.W. Department,
receive first reading. Carried Unanimously.

Moved by Councillor Brackelsby that Motion 4F~360 be amended to read:
"we approve this application subject to a Servicing Agreement with
the County and the developer being responsible for the Sewer Extension
195' to the corner of Lot 3; and a lane is required between Lot 3
and the adjacent canal and Lot 4 and the adjacent canal." Carried.

in the amount of $1200.00; if any overexpenditure - this is to be

was presented to Council for information,

A request from Dale Patterson to install a culvert on the road between
Section SE 1-15-14-4 and NW 35-14-14-4 was presented to Council.
Moved by Councillor Vogel that we approve this installation subject to
the road surface being br~~ ~-~--~--tie present standards. Carried.

endorsement of the concept of the extension of the Medicine Hat
College in the Town of Brooks was read for information.

Application from Mattheis Engineering Ltd, to upgrade the road
allowance on the West side of Secs, 30 & 31-22-14-4 from 556 to
pump sts,tion and installation of a road approach on the West side

Janzen that we approve these applications, Carried.
