HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-04-09 Council (Regular) MinutesCounty of Newell No. 4 Council Meeting April 9, 1976 The regular Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on Friday, April 9, 1976 commencing at 10:00 a.m. Members Present Reeve Councillors T. Musgrove A. Vogel V . Fabian L. Brockelsby J. Hajash W. Christensen J. Boehme P. Bartlett H. Janzen D. James Administrator 213. Minutes 214. 215. Minutes of the March 26, 1976 meeting were read and adopted. Correspondence U.F.A. A letter from the U.F.A. requesting County approval for alterations to their bulk petroleum storage facilities at Patricia, was presented. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve this application. 216. Alberta Agriculture Letter from Carter Curran, from the Brooks Agriculture Office, requesting use of two or three County buses on July 29 & 30 for i'N Alfalfa Seed Tour, was presented. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we approve the use of two to three buses for this tour. Carried. . . 217. A.A.M.D. & C. Letter from the Association concerning Defensive Driving Courses, was presented. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that the County pay for the cost of these Courses plus mileage for drivers coming to Brooks, and that this Course be made available to all County drivers. Also, that a circular letter be sent to all drivers to determine how many would be interested in such a Course. Carried. 218. G. Lore An application from G. Lore for sprinkler irrigation system installation was presented and referred to Councillor Hajash for further study. 219. PanCanadian Application from PanCanadian Ltd. for pipeline road crossings in 18-15- 4, was presented. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we approve this application subject to all regulations and that all crossings be bored. Carried. 220. Village of Duchess Letter from the Village of Duchess advising of their participation in the Brooks Ambulance Service, was presented and was to be referred to the Town of Brooks. 221. Rolling Hills Recreation Board The Rolling Hills Recreation Board Budget for 1976 was presented. Moved by Councillor Vogel.that we approve this Budget. Carried. paQP 77 222. M.D. of Kneehill Letter from the M.D. of Kneehill advising of the Municipal Administrator's Seminar to be held in Three Hills on Friday, April 30, 1976, was presented. Moved by Councillor Vogel that D. James attend this Seminar. Carried. 223. Tirol Dehydrators Ltd. Letter from Tirol Dehydrators Ltd. concerning their taxes on the Tilley Plant was presented to Council and the Administrator was to advise them as to the regulations in this regard. 224. Calgary Power Ltd. Application from Calgary Power Ltd. for service in LSD 11-35-17-14-4, was presented. Moved by Councillor Fabian that we approve this application subject to all regulations. Carried. 225. Cheques for Payment Moved by Councillor Janzen that we approve Cheques 3178 - 3675, as per attached list, for payment. Carried. 226. L.K. Ranches Ltd. Letter from L.K. Ranches Ltd. regarding the closing and leasing of road allowance between Sections 20 & 29-21-18-4, was presented. Moved by Councillor Brockelsby that we refuse the leasing of this road allowance. Carried. 227. Committee Reports 228. School Committee ' Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we accept this report. Municipal Committee Moved by Councillor Janzen that we accept this report. Carried. 230. Agriculture Service Board Moved by Councillor Hajash that we accept this report. Carried. 231. Lunch Adjourn for lunch 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. 232. Delegation Mr. H.D. Carr, Regional Wildlife Biologist and Mr. R. Sayko, Brooks Game Officer, attended the meeting to discuss the antelope situation within the County of Newell. 233. Brooks Hospital & Nursing Home Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we accept this report. Carried. 234. Bassano Hospital No report. 235. Carried. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we accept this report. Carried. 238. ~ Industrial Board No report. 239. Y Agricultural Development Corporation Moved by Councillor Brockelsby that we accept this report. Carried. 240. C.R.C. No report. 241. ,, Airport No report. 242. _Assessor's Report Moved by Councillor Bartlett that no change be made in our present Policy regarding Convention Expenses for accommodation. Carried. . . . Moved by Councillor Janzen that we accept the report. Carried. 243. ~, Excused from Meeting Councillor Hajash requested that he be excused from the meeting. Permission granted. 244. 245. v 246. 247. Buses ~t Discussion took place on the purchase of new b3~er~ffor 1976. Mowed. by Councillor Janzen that we obtain bids on 24 ~ 42 passenger bra with consideration to the purchase of 5 buses, of various sizes. Carried. Department of Highways Moved by Councillor Musgrove that a letter be sent to the Department of Highways holding them harmless in regard to the crushing and stockpiling of gravel at the Steveville Pit. Carried. Scandia Lots Moved by Councillor Brockelsby that we increase the price of the Scandia lots for sale to $500.00 and that if these are not developed within one year from date of purchase, that the gttechaser will forfeit $200.00 of his deposit.
