Special Council Meeting
August 29, 1974
A Special Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held
in the County Office on August 29, 1974. at 8:00 p.m.

Notice of Meeting and Waiver of Notice is attached to and forms part
of these minutes.
436. _Tohn Ware Trail Re-surfacing
Tenders were reviewed on the John Ware re-surfacing from Everall
Construction(Edmonton)Ltd., Tollestrup Construction Ltd., Coho
Paving Ltd. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we accept the bid
from Tollestrup Construction Ltd. subject to gravel costs being
included in the tender and inspection of tender by the Department
of Highways. Carried.
437• Secondary Road 544
;-~ Letter from the Department of Highways & Transport re: Secondary
Road 544 and the re-oiling of this road for 1974, was read.
Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we accept the $00.00 grant '
for re-oiling of this road and that we start these repairs ''~=',~
immediately. Carried.
43g• Secondary Road 539
Letter from the Department of Highways & Transport re: Secondary
Road 539, was read. The Secretary was instructed to contact Brown
& Hogg to obtain a legal survey on this road prior to construction.
439• Plug-ins for Office Grounds
The Secretary reported on costs for the additional plug-ins at the
County Office parking lot. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we
proceed with the installation of these plug-ins.
Moved by Councillor Fabian that we table this motion for more
information. Carried.
440. Elections
Moved by Councillor Janzen that Motion 433, Item 1, Returning Officer,
be rescinded. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Hajash that N. Fakas be appointed as Returning
Officer for the County Elections. Carried.
441• Gravel Lease
Moved by Councillor Block that we approve the Gravel Lease between
J.R. Martin and the County of Newell. Carried.
442. Gravel Crushing Tender
Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we tender for 100,000 yds. of
crushed gravel with stockpiling at the pits, and screening gravel
in some of the pits for 1975. These tenders to be reviewed at
our October meeting. Carried.
443. Painting Competition
Moved by Councillor Block that we award three prizes for this
competition. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Hajash that we set the prizes as follows:
First Prize - $150.00, Second Prize - $100.00, Third Prize - $50.00.
Carried.
