HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-12-08 Council (Regular) MinutesCounty of Newell No. 4 Council Meeting December 8, 19'72 The regular Council Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on Friday, December 8, 19'72 at 10:00 a.m. Members Present Reeve Councillors Mun. Sec. T. Musgrove G. Larsen V. Fabian C. Andrews J. Hajash C. Block N. Tautfest P. Bartlett H. Janzen D. James 1. Minutes of the November 24, 1972 Meeting were read and adopted subject to the additional two Recreation Motions which were omitted from the minutes. Moved by Councillor Janzen that we approve Gem Recreation Board Project for Capital Grants. Carried. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve the Patricia Recreation Board Project for Capital urants. Carried. 2. Tabled letter from Alberta Government Telephones re: Buried Cable in Bassano Area, was reviewed. Moved by Councillor Janzen that we recommend a change in Sections 10 & 11 in 22-1'7-4. Carried. Moved by Councillor Block that we approve the A.G.T. application subject to amendment. Carried. 3. Tabled letter from Department of Manpower & Labor re: L.I.P. Program, was reviewed. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we `+ apply for the moving of old car bodies under the L.I.P. Program. ,\ Carried. 4. ~ Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we pay the Town of Brooks the balance of hold-back on the Airport Account. Carried. 5. - Minutes of the November 2'J Organizational Meeting were presented. Moved by Councillor Andrews that we adopt the Organizational Meeting Minutes as presented. Carried. 6. Moved by Councillor Janzen that we accept the Treasurer's Report, for the month of November. Carried. 7. - Correspondence: 8. - Letter from Calgary Power Ltd. re: Line Moves in the Countess and Bantry Field Areas, were read. Moved by Councillor Fabian that we approve these applications subject to all other regulations being met and that any future moves or reset of these lines be borne by Calgary Power Ltd. Carried. ~; ~; Page 1 9. Letter from Chevron Standard Ltd. re: Road Crossing in 20-12-4, was read. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve this application subject to all other regulations being met and County By-law. Carried. 10. - Letter from the A.A.M.D. re: 19'73 Co-op Trade Meeting, was read and ordered filed. 11. - P.F.A.A. Report #1 was read and ordered filed. 12. ~ Letter from David P. Olson requesting report on County Brief re: Communal Property Act, was read. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we release this information to Mr. Olson, and request a copy of his report. Carried. 13. ~ Letter from Mrs. Trotter, of Alcoma School, reporting on the busing arrangement at her school, was read. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we request Mrs. Trotter to submit her Reorganizational Plan of bus routes and times to County Council. Carried. 14. - Adjourn for lunch 12:35 - 2:00 p.m. 1$. - Letter from the Department of Education re: busing, was read and ordered filed. ~, 16. ~ Letter from Provincial Planning Board re: Board Order 423-5-'72 '~ was read, and the Secretary was instructed to invite the Planning `~ Board to our next Council Meeting, to discuss this matter further. ,: ,~ ~~' 1'7. Letter from PanCanadian Ltd. re: Road Crossing in 18-15-4, was read. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we approve this application subject to all other regulations being met and County By-law. Carried. 18. Committee Reports: 19. School Committee: Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we approve the donation of the Patricia Teacherage Hl to the Patricia Recreation Board. Carried. 20. - Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we recognize and include the Jr. High School Inter-School Program, and the provision of busing for this Program. Carried. 21. ~ Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we accept this report. Carried. 22. Municipal Committee: Discussion took place on the increasing of load limits on all County Roads to 56,000 lbs. gross weight. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that By-law 4'76 to amend By-law 334 re: increasing of load weights on all County Roads to 56,000 lbs. receive first reading. Carried, Unanimously.
