Hajash Councillors G. Larsen V. Fabian` T. Musgrove C, Andrews D. Hall N. Ta utfest P, Bartlett- G. Douglass. Municipal Secretary D, Tames Minutes of the riiigust 14 Council Meeting were read and adopted. Moved by Councillor Fabian that we accept the Financial Report for v the month of August, Carried, Correspondence: r Letter from the Attorney General's Department re: Fines on local ~_r road bans, was read and the Secretary advised to obtain further `~ information as to our first letter regarding the R.C.M.P. and Provincial Police role within the County. Letter from Jubilee Insurance Agencies Ltd. re: Group Life Insurance A ~ Plan, was read and ordered filed. Letter from Jubilee Insurance Agencies Ltd. re: Liability Policy was read and ordered filed. Application 70-NL59 from Medicine Hat Planning Commission re: D, Boschm3n and A, Peltier Subdivision was read. Moved by Councillor ~ Tautfest that we approve this Su~-livision subject to all other regulations being met, and that cash in lieu of Public Reserve be paid. Carried. Letter from the Town of Brooks and copy of Recreation Agreement was presented. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we approve this Agreement fo.r signature. Carried. Letter from Gu~.f Oil Canada Ltd, re: Application for place ng of restaurant sign at their Service Station on #1 Highway north of Brooks, was read. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we approve this Application subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. Letter from the Department of Agriculture re: -duties of the local ` D,A. and his Assistant was read and ordered filed. Letter from the Alberta Hail & Crop Insurance was read and the Secretary advised to contact the Corporation and request a representativti to one of our future meetings to discuss the program in further detail. Adjourn for lunch 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. a Letter from Crerar, Lutes & PJoonan re proposed Subdivision by Ed willms of Lots 1-I9 inclusive in Block 1 Plan 4111 EA was read. / Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve this application subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. Letter from Crerar, Lutes & Noonan re proposed annexation by the Village of Duchess of part of Plan 1610 ET was read. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we approve this Application subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. Letter from the Department of Highways & Transport re Bylaw 409 was read. Moved by Councillor Andrews that Bylaw 412 cancelling Bylaw 409 receive first, second and third reading. Carried Unanimously. Letter and account from J. Folkerts of Tilley re: Crop DamagF~ due to road construr_tion was read. Moved by Councillor Fabian that we pay this claim in the amount of $250.00. Carri:=d. Committee Reports School Committee Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we accept this report. Carried. . . Municipal Committee Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve the purchase of an emery caheel stand and motor for the Public 'fJorks Department. Carried. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we accept this report. Carried. Request from Carlson's Cartage to purchase 600 yards of crushed gravel from the Rock Lake Pit was reviewed. Nloved by Councillor Hajash th_it we approve the sale of 600 yards to Carlson's Cartage, ~ but from the Steveville or Bassano Pit plus them paying for the County checker, and the loading must be done by his own machine. Also, that we cha rge $1.50 per cu. yd. for this gravel. Carried. :'agriculture Committee Moved by Councillor Larsen that we accept this report. Carried. Moved by Councillor Larsen that the following Election Officials be appointed for Division 9: D.R.O. _ Jake Neufeld Enumerator - Jake Neufeld Poll Clerk - Mrs. Marie Neufeld Polling Place - Gem Community Hall Carried. A request from Mr. William Wittmier of Rolling Hills for the County to review his taxes on the Store at Rolling Hills was presented. r Moved by Councillor Hall that we confirm the taxes owing on the tiJittmier Store at Rolling Hills. Carried. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we approve payment for three Extension Courses in Municipal Administration for the office staff upon acceptance of registrations. Carried. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we approve the purchase of a new electric typewriter for the County Office. Carried. Moved by Councillor Musgrove that Bylaw 419 reserving unto the County Council the authority to purchase and sell School Buses and the hiring and firing of School Bus Drivers receive first, second, third and final reading. Carried Unanimously.
