The minutes of the January 9, 1970 Council Meeting were read and / adopted. . . Moved by Councillor Musgrove that a request for a reply to our / telegram of January 12 to the Minister of Health re: Brooks Hospital be forwarded to the Minister. Carried. . . Moved by Councillor Hall that we accept the Financial Report for the ~ month of December. Carried. . . Letter from the A.A.M.D. re: Annual Spring Meeting to be held in Edmonton on March 26, 1970 was read. It was indicated by Councillors f that Councillors Hajash, Hall, Musgrove, and Fabian would attend and the Secretary-Treasurer. . . Letter from the De~rtment of Youth re: the possible holding of a ~ local workshop was read. Moved by Councillor Andrews that we approve the local workshop on recreation boards. Carried. . . Letter from the Alberta Municipal Finance Corporation requesting estimates for 1970 capital requirements was read, and the Secretary advised to return this application setting out our request for the Scandia-Rainier School and the Brooks Hospital. Letter from Farm Electric Services Ltd. re: application for line extension in 19-15_4 was read. Moved by Councillor Hajash that we / approve this application subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. Application from Medicine Hat Planning Commission #70M1 & 70M2 re: subdivision of Lakeside Feeders and Lakeside Industries was read. / Moved by Councillor Hajash that we approve these applications subject to all other regulations being met. Carried. . . Letter from the City of Medicine Hat re: Canada Summer Games 197 / was presented. This matter was tabled and referred to the Annual Meeting for further discussion. . . Letter from the A.S.T.A. re: collective bargaining workshop to be held in Calgary on March 1, 2, & 3 was read. Moved by Councillor / Bartlett that all meetings for the month of March be held during the weed of March 9. Letter from the Canadian Pacific Railway re; closing and removing of station buildings at Scandia, Countess and Gem was read. Moved by Councillor Hall that we approve their request. Carried. . . Committee Reports: School Committee Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we approve the bid for the covering of the Tilley School floor from Albert's Floor & Covering of P~iedicine Hat. Carried. . . Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we accept this report. Carried. . . Munici~l Committee Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we make an offer to Mr. W. Kirschenmar in the amount of $500.00 and the installation of the culvert as requeste for full settlement of all claims arising from the expropriation procedures. Carried. . . Moved by Councillor Musgrove that we accept this report. Carried. . . Members of the Brooks-Bassano Industrial being H. Fowler, B. Nelson, H. Stackhouse, F. Daniels, and S. Saunders met with the Beard to discuss the Brooks-Bassano Industrial Area Board in cjeneral and also their proposal as to the spur-line leading to the Industrial Site south of town. -Tnderwood McLellanAssociates met with the Council td discuss the 1970 hardsurfacing program. It was agreed that tenders be called for this job and that tenders will close on April 7, 1970. . . Members of the Medicine Hat Planning Commission met with Council to discuss County Membership in the Commission. Mr. Ben Plumer, representing the E.I.D., met with the Council to discuss the recent change in unorganized school lands to school lands, and the implications it may have on the taxing of this area. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that the County 2~ not participate in the Brooks Industrial Board Proposal for the spur-line into the Industrial Area of Brooks. Carried. . . Moved by Councillor Tautfest that we opt out of the Planning Commission as originally stated. Motion lost. . .
