County of Newell No. 4 Council Meeting NOVEMBER 3, 1967 The regular meeting of the County Council of the County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office, Brooks, Alberta at 10:00 a.m. November 3, 1967. Members present Chairman Councillors Sec.-Treas. Assitant Seo.~Treas. J. HajashJ A. Chrumka / T. Musgrove/ F. Mandeville, F. Bergen/ P. Bartlett' G. Douglass/ G. Larsen~/ R. Armstrong H.C. Scammell D.N.- James, The minutes of October 6, 1967 were read and adopted. The Secretary was directed to write A.A. Voice Co. Ltd. and invited them to ,our next- Munici~l Meeting to discuss their account and this machine. M®ved by Councillor Hajash, that B.J. Hansen's service be terminated immediately, and that he be paid one months `salary on release. Carried Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that we advertise immediately for the positions s6f a Accountant and Jr .. Accountant for office .staff. Carried. Adjourned for lunch 12:30 to 2:OO p.m. . .. . . Mr. W. Schumacker of Undwrwood McLellan met with the Council to discuss Exprop~i,tion Procedures. Moved by Councillor Musgrove, that Mr. Kirschenman,be served with a notice in accordance with Section 24 of the Exprop~ation Act. Carried. a Bylaw for Exprop~ation be considered at the CouncillMeeting of December 8, 1967. Letter fromC.P.R. re application to close Control and Finnegan Stations was read. Moved by Councillor Douglass, that there would be no objection to the abandonment and removal of the station facilities at Control and t~ ~ Finnegan, providing there be no disruption in the mail services ~--~ ~J at these pointer. - Carried. . _ Letter from C.P.R. re agreement of private crossing at Cecil Gravel Pit was read. Moved by Councillor Larsen, that the agreement with the C.P.R. for right of way crossing be completed and signed. Carried. . . . . Letter from the Alberta Power Commisior re changes in Tilley and i W ~~, ~~ ~~ ~~ 1~ ~~ G~ ~ E~ ~i~~~ Rolling Hills R.E.A. boundaries. was read. Moved by Councillor Chrumka, that the proposed, changes in the boundaries of the Tilley R.E.A. be approved. Carried. . . Moved by Councillor Larsen, that the proposed changes in the boundaries of sthe Rolling Hips R.E.A. be approved. Ei~rr ied. Letter from Canadian Mental Health Association was read and ordered filed. . . . . fetter frg;n M.S.I. was read and ordered filed. Letter form W.A. Prentice re employment was read~and he wa.s to be advised that this letter would be placed on file for future feference. . . Letter from Alberta GovenIIment Telephones, re snow removal, was read and they were to be advised that the County could not assist in their proposed program. . . . . Committee reports School ' Moved by Councillor Armstrong, that we approve the Depar#ments recognition of two more classrooms at Bassano and th~ctthe Architects be advised to draw up a new set of plans to meet these requirem«?nts. Carried. . . . . Moved by Councillor Mandeville, that the School Committee report be approved. 8arried. . . . Municipal T'%~ec11967-68 Winter Works program was discussed and it was decided not to do. any gravel crashing by Winter Works this year. The Secretary was requested to write Willow Creek Sand and Gravel and obtain prices for crushing small amounts at various pits next summer. . . . . Moved by Councillor j}rmstrong, that the lists of Right of way agreements as listed in Municipal Minutes be approved. Carried. . . f Moved by Councillor Armstrong that the Municipal Committee report be approved. Carried. . . . . Moved by Councillor Chrumka, that a Committee of four be set up as the Drainage Committee to handle any future drainage problems and agreements. Carried. . . . . .
