The postponed regular monthly meeting of the Council of the County of Newell No. ~. was held in the County Office in Brooks, Alberta at 10:00 a.m. on Friday September 17th, 1900. Members present: Chairman N.A. Shuttleworth Councillors 0. Vossler P. Mc Aleese C. Andrews Jas. Hajash R. Armstrong R. Eastman Ben Plumer G. Douglass Secretary-Treasurer H. Scammell The minutes of the previous meeting of August 12th, 1960 were read and adopted.. Moved by Councillor Douglass that Bylaw No. 203 be given Ist, 2nd, and 3rd. readings and finally passed. . Carried Unanimously. Moved by Councillor Vossler, that Bylaw No. 20l~ be given 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, readings and finally passed. ( I Carried Unanimously ~i~. Carried. A tel~ram from the Director of Veterinary Services advising of the establishment of the County as a Brucellosis Restricted Area was read and ordered filed. A letter from the Calgary Power Co, re the proposed tour to potato processing plants was read and ordered filed. . . . Correspondence and schedules pertaining to Boiled Insurance were referred to Councillor Plumer. The Secretary was directed to advise the Farmers Union that the observance of Farmers Day by a School Holiday was not favored. . . Notice was received of the application of a new Hutterite Colony to purchase land in Townships 21 and 22, Range 11~, (W.K. Enterprises) Moved by Councillor Andrews that the Newton Garage Building in Rainier be offered for s~1e by public tender, Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the above motion be tabled until the next regular Council Meeting. • Carried. N 149-P--Special IPAL SLPPL76S LTD. - 2 - Reports of Committees. 5~~ Municipal Committee. Moved by Councillor Hajash, that the report of the Municipal Committee be accepted. , Carried. M~~ved by Councillor Andrews, that the application of the E.I.D. to lease the road allowances within the Scandia Dominion Experimental Farm be approved. Carried. Adjourned for Lunch 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Moved by Councillor Hajash, that the Renfrew School Building be moved into the County Material Yard in Brooks. , Carried. The Council Meeting adjourned at 2:30 p.m. to sit as a Committee of the whole, to discuss the damage claim of A. Larson, under the Provisions of the Domestic Animals Act. Moved by Councillor Plumer, that Mr. Larson be paid 75¢ of each dollar of his claim with regard to 3 head of cattle sold in the Rainier Pound. , Carried. The regular Council Meeting resumed following the passing of the above motion. at 3:00 p.m. ~'_ Agricultural Service Board. Moved by Councillor Eastman, that the report of the Agricultural ~`' Service Board be accepted. ~~ f; . Carried. ~' Hospital Committee Moved by Councillor Eastman, that the report of the Hospital Committee be accepted. . Carried. Civil Defence Committee Moved by Councillor Andrews that the report of the Civil Defence Committee be accepted. . ;. . Carried. The secretary was directed to advertise the the proposed Civil Defence Building for sale by public tender. Farm Purchase Board No report. Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth that an additional streetlight be installed at Rolling Hills.
