The regular monthly meeting of the County Council of the County of
Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office in Brooks, Alberta at
20:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11th, 1957•

The minutes of the meeting of Dec. 7, 1956 were read & adopted.

Moved by Councillor Lokier that the Secretary~s report of receipts ,.-
and disbursements for the month of December be accepted.

'discon#~inuance of the allowance to Ids. Rebitt, was read and ordered

`Title was received to the parcel of land in Bassano being Block Z,
the site of the new Bassano school.

applying for the position of assessor for the County was read.

Moved by Councillor Mc.Al.eese, that the offer of J. J. Rodenbour
to purchase Pt. S.W. g - 14 - 13 - 4 for ~ 100.00 be refused. /~

The secretary reported that the contracts to build the portable schools
at Bassano, Rosemary, Duchess and Rolling Hills had been approved.

Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the secretary be directed to advise
the Patricia Home do School .Association, that the school busses in the
Patricia district are being operated in accordance with County policy ,
and are in the complete control of the Councillor of the division.

The secretary reported with regard to the Anderson Drilling Co., and
confirmed that payment of the Personal Property account had now been /
made.

Correspondence was read with regard to the County Plebiscite to be
held February 2nd, 1957, and the Chairman appointed the following
as enumerators: ~

appointment of Mr, Lawrence as assessor for the County„

It was agreed that the rate of pay for the annual assessment work in
the County be ~ 20.00 per day, plus mileage at 10~ per mile within
the County, ~

Moved by Councillor McAleese that Mr, V. H. Lawrence be appointed
as assessor for the County commencing January 1st, 1957. i'

Moved by Councillor Lokier, that Bylaw ,~ 146 to appoint V. H, Lawrence
as assessor for the County be given 1st, 2nd and 3rd readings and
dinally passed.
