Members present: Chairman Councillors Secretary -Treasurer N.A. Shuttleworth G. Douglass R. Arrison H. Ockey W. Lokier B .E. Plumer J. Mortensen P. M cAleese K. Waraksa H.C. Scammell The minutes of the meeting of December 10, 1953 were read and adopted. Moved by Councillor Arrison, that the damage claim of C. Fleming against R. Edwards with .regard to the Edward's bull, ge set at $15.00 and that the $2.00 paid. by Edwards should be refunded. Carried. . . . . . • i"oved by Councillor Plumer, that the offer of J.H. Yuill to purchase the S1 17-19-12-W4th, for the slim of $p500.00 be accepted, subject to the approval of the Kinister. Carried. Moved by Councillor Ockey, that the application by 1'. Gleddie to have the road allowance north of the N.E. 24- 17-13-W4th cancelled, be approved. Carried. Moved by Councillor Arrison that application be made to the Director of Assessment, to order a General Assessment of the County, to be made in 1954, effective in 1955. Carried. Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth, that the School Committee's recommendation with regard to the unorganized Lands within the County be concurred in. Carried. Moved by Councillor Plumer, that Mfr. Paul Lloyd be appointed Assessor for the County for the year 1954. Carried. Civil Defence literature and bulletins were presented and taken by Councillor Waraksa. Moved by Councillor Waraksa that the minimum amount of $10.00 per day be paid to Mr. H.E. Hankel for the use of his school van, to commence January lst, 1954. Carried. Agricultural Service Board Report It was unanimously agreed that the use of "1080't be applied for, and that the use, location and supervision be under the direction of the District Agriculturist. Moved by Councillor Lokier, that the County bear 50% of the cost of material for the eradication of Toad Flax. Carried. Moved by Councillor Waraksa that an or�.cr be placed, for May lst delivery of an Arrow Sprayer at an approximate cost of X1150.00 Carried. Moved by Councillor Arrison, that an attempt be mad^ to engage three men for Weed Inspectors etc., for a. period of time during the summer of 1954• Carried. Municipal Committee Report Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the account of W. Sheldrake, Qn account of 1953 snowplowing of School Van roads, in the sum of approximately $150.00 be paid to the E.I.D. Carried. Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth, that By-law #95 beinm a by-law to authorize the County to borrow $300.000 from the Treasury Branch be given First, Second and Third readings and finally passed. Carried unanimously. School Committee Report Moved by Councillor Arrison, that a survey be made by each Councillor -in his own division for the purpose of reviewing the possibility of implementing total vanninm at a later date. � Carried. Moved by Councillor Lokier, that Councillor Plumer be authorized to proceed with his survey of school buildiig- construction as outlined by the School Committee, f r ...... Carried.
