COUNTY OF NEWELL No. 4
ADJOURNED 1=TING
MAY 1st, 1953•
The adjourned meeting of the Council of the County of
Newell No. 4, was held in the School Division Office
at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1st, 1953•
PRESENT: Chairman N. A. Shuttleworth
Councillors K. Waraksa, J. Mortensen
P. McAleese, B. Plumer
H. Ockey, R. Arrison
Sec -Treasurer H. C. Scammell.
The minutes of the meeting of April 24th, 1953 were
adopted as read.
Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth, that By -Law No. 79
being a By -Law to reserve certain other powers to the
County Council be given First, Second and Third readings
and finally passed.
Carried Unanimously.
Droved by Councillor Arrison, that the total sum to be
spent on Public Works for the year 1953, be increased
from $130,000. to $140,000. This recommendation is
made, in view of the increased roadwork grants.
Mr. Graham Ellis of Union Tractor meet the Council to
discuss the trade in of the Ido. 14 Richardson Blade.
A letter from J. F. Swan to 0. P. Larson re complaint
from Cowoki students was referred to Councillor Waraksa.
The Secretary was directed to write to the Department of
Public Health to register the disapproval of Council with
regard to their handling of the Leathorn case.
Letters from the Iviothers Allowance with regard to
Airs. Thelma McLeod, Firs. Krause, and Mrs. Beisiegel were
ordered filed.
Moved by Councillor McAleese, that the offer of D.C. Stair,
Patricia to purchase Lots 9 & 10, Block 9, Patricia Plan
2819 DB, at and for the sum of $50.00 be accepted.
Carried.
Correspondence with regard to R. C. Bowers and the
Tribunal to establish his age was referred to the Public
Welfare Officer.
Letters from Medicine Hat Health unit re the appointment
of Air. Shuttleworth to the Board, and another re the
Tilley Auisance Ground were ordered filed,

The Secretary reported with regard to the Brooks Bawl
and Gravel claim.
