Present: Administrator Bruce Ramsay Councillors N. A. Shuttleworth K. Waraksa P. McAleese W. Lokier J. Mortensen B. E. Plumer H. Ockey R. Arrison G. Douglass Secretary -Treasurer H.C. Scammell All Councillors were duly swo�n�.andof,�oigned the necessary Oath ofOffce. Nominations for Chairman: N. A. Shuttleworth by P. McAleese. H. Ockey by R. Arrison. Moved by Councillor Waraksa the nominations cease. Carried 0. 0. 0 0 0 0.. Result of the ballot: N. A. Shuttleworth was elected Chairman. Mr. Bruce Ramsay then conducted the draw for terms of office the result of which was as follows: 3 Years N. A. Shuttleworth P. McAleese H. Ockey 2 Years G. Douglass R. Arrison J. Mortensen 1 Year K. Waraksa W. Lokier B. Plumer . . . . . . . . . . Nominations for the School Committee were as follows: H. Ockey by W. Lokier R. Arrison by H. Ockey B. Plumer by K. Waraksa K. Waraksa by N. A. Shuttleworth G. Douglass by R. Arrison W. Lokier by B. Plumer Moved by Councillor Ockey, that nominations cease. Carried 0000...... Result of the ballot was as follows: H. Ockey R. Arrison B. Plumer W. Lokier It was unanimously agreed, that H. Ockey be Chairman of theSchool Committee. Nominations for the Municipal Committee were as follows G. Douglass by B. Plumer (: IWAM 14 J. Mortensen by H .Ockey K. Waraksa by R. Axrrison N. Shuttleworth by J. Mortensen P. McAleese by W. Lokier Moved by Councillor Waraksa, that nominations cease. Carried Result of the ballot was as follows: G. Douglass J. Mortensen N. Shuttleworth P. McAleese Nominations for Chairman of the Municipal Committee were as follows: N. Shuttleworth by J. Mortensen J. Mortensen by N. Shuttleworth Moved by Councillor McAleese, that nominations cease. Carried As a result the ballot: J. Mortensen was elected Chairman. It was unanimously agreed, that the accounts of the County for both the School and the Municipal Committees must be passed for payment by the County Council. Nominations for members to the Agricultural Service Board were as follows: K. Waraksa by N. A. Shuttleworth B. Plumer by R. Arrison R. Arrison by H. Ockey Moved by Councillor Arrison, that nominations cease. Carried ..... 0410 .. 0 As a result of the ballot, the following were appointed to the Agricultural Service Board. K. Waraksa R. Arrison 0 0 0 41 ..... 41 Councillor Shuttleworth was appointed to the Board of the Medicine Hat Healt Unit No.l by acclamation. Moved by Councillor Waraksa, that H. C. Scammell be appointee. Secretary -Treasurer.. Carried 4141.;4141.... Moved by Councillor Ockey, that C. B. Robe e appointed Assistar Secretary -Treasurer. It was unanimously agreed, that the following salaries be approved: Secretary -Treasurer H. C. Scammell 51000.00 per Year C. B. Robertson 3,700.00 per Year Mrs. M. Calwait 125.00 per month t -3- 15 Moved by Councillor Shuttleworth, that the above salaries be effectiv, retroactive to January 1st, 1953• Carried. Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the arrangement thereby the Sec- retary -Treasurer be paid a Car Allowance of § 20.00 per month plus 6¢ per mile for each mile necessarily travelled on County business be continued. Carried The Bonds of the Secretary -Treasurer and Assistant in the sums of 10,000.00 and $ 2,500.00 respectively were presented and approved. Moved by Councillor Arrison, that the following schedule of meeting days be approved: School Committee to meet on the Tuesday of every Third week of the month at 10.00 a.m. in the School Division Office. Municipal Committee to meet on the Friday of every Third week of the month at 10.00 a.m. in the County Office. County Council to meet on the Friday of every third week of the month at 2.00 p.m. in the School Division Office. Carried The First School Committee meeting March 17th. The First Municipal Committee and 2nd County meetings to be held March 20th, 1953• Moved by Councillor Plumer, that the following be appointed to the School Committee: Mrs. M. Kelly, Town of Bassano Mr. Glen Stanford, Village of Rosemary. and that should the Village of Tilley appoint a representative to the School Committee previous to the First meeting, he or her, be invited to attend. Carried 0000*#0&00 Moved by Councillor Waraksa, that the resolution with regard to re- muneration to.the Chairman, Councillors and Members of the School Committee from the Towns and Villages, attached to and forming part of these minutes be.passed. Carried Unan. ..0.0..00. Moved by Councillor Ockey, that the County of Newell No -4 conduct their banking business with the Treasury Branch in Brooks, Alberta. Carried Moved by Councillor Ockey, Seconded by Councillor Waraksa, that the Banking resolution authorizing the Chairman, Councillor Shuttleworth, or Councillor Mortensen, together with Secretary -Treasurer to be the signing authorities for the County be passed.
