Municipal Planning Commission
October 29, 1980
The regular meeting of the Municipal Planning Commission of the
County of Newell No. 4 was held in the County Office at Brooks,
Alberta on October 29, 1980 at 7:45 p.m.

Secretary G. Ledene
The meeting was called to order by the Secretary.
1. Election of Chairman
J. Hajash nominated by S. Merkl. E. Willms nominated by V. Fabian.
V. Fabian nominated by J. Hajash. E. Willms moved nominations
cease. Carried. Result of vote: V. Fabian was elected Chairman.
2. Election of Vice Chairman
E. Willms nominated S. Merkl. V. Fabian nominated J. Hajash.
J. Hajash declined nomination. S. Merkl moved nominations cease.
Carried. S. Merkl declared Vice Chairman.
3. Minutes
The minutes of the meeting held September 24, 1980 were read to
the Commission. The Chairman declared them adopted as read.
4. Development Control Officer's Report
The Development Control Officer presented his report for October.
Moved by J. Hajash that we adopt the report. Carried.
5. Development Applications
a) Imperial Oil Ltd. - A development application by Imperial Oil Ltd.
for a key-lock facility on NE 8-19-14-4 was presented. Moved by
S. Merkl that we approve the application. Carried.
b) Brooks Auto Racers - A development application from the Brooks
Auto Racers for a race track in SW 2-19-15-14-4 was presented. Moved
by J. Hajash that the application be tabled pending further advice
from the Brooks Auto Racers. Carried.
c) Clair A. Cooper - A development application from Clair A. Cooper
for a trailer office in the SW 17-19-14-4 was presented. Moved by
J. Hajash that the application be approved as a discretionary use.
Carried.
d) Shawbury Farms - A development application from Shawbury Farms
for an alfalfa processing plant in SE 12-15-14-4 was presented.
Moved by E. Willms that we approve this application. Carried.
e) G. Beekuman - A development application from G. Beekuman for a
dairy farm in NW 23-16-16-4 was presented. Moved by S. Merkl that
we approve the application subject to a Certificate of Compliance
from the Department of Agriculture being received. Carried.

~) B & A Littau -- A development application from B & D Littau
for ~:esidence and stable in SW 8-19-13-4 was presented. Moved
by E. Wi11ms that we approve the application subject to Land Use
By~1aw requirements regarding number of animal units. Carried.
6, Prypased Amendment to Land Use By-law
The Cpmmission reviewed a proposed amendment to the Land Use
By~~.aw xeg~rding zoning in Scandia, additional regulations and
development standards for Hamlets and Moved-in Buildings Regulations.
Moved by E. Wi11ms that we recommend to County Council approval
of this amendment. Carried.
7, ~xinting of Development Nptices
Moved by ~. [nTil7.ms that we purchase development notices for posting
at deve~.ppment sites. Carried.
