Organizational Meeting
November 2'7, 1972
The Organizational Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held
in the County Office at Brooks, Alberta on Monday, November 2'7'72
at x•00 p.m.

1. The Secretary called the Meeting to order and called for nominations
for the position of Reeve:
T. Musgrove nominated by N. Tautfest
Moved by Councillor Janzen that nominations cease. Carried.
Reeve Musgrove then took the chair.
2. Nominations were opened for Deputy Reeve:
N. Tautfest was nominated by H. Janzen.
Moved by Councillor Block that nominations cease. Carried.

- 3. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that the Meeting dates be set for the
first full week of each month. Carried.
4. Moved by Councillor Andrews that the full Council sit on the
School Committee. Carried.
$. Moved by Councillor Hajash that the full Council sit on the
Municipal Committee. Carried.
6. Moved by Councillor Janzen that the Agriculture Service Board
consist of three Council members. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Bartlett that nominations cease. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Hajash that F. Workes be appointed as
County Representative to the Brooks Recreation Board. Carried.
18. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that we confirm the appointment
of Councillor Andrews to the Agriculture Development Corp. Carried.
19. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that Councillors mileage be set at
12¢ per mile. Carried.
20. Moved by Councillor Block that Councillorts per diem for all
meetings be set at $15.00 and $15.00 expenses. Moved by
Councillor Andrews that the motion be amended to read "12.50 per
day and X12.50 expenses.~~

21. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that the Reeve or Deputy Reeve
along with the Secretary or the Assistant Secretary have signing
power on all County General Cheques, and that the Secretary or
the Assistant Secretary have signing authority for the Payroll
Cheques. Carried.
22. Moved by Councillor Bartlett that By-law 4'7$ re: 19'73 County
Borrowing By-law in the amount of X300,000.00 receive first
reading. Carried Unanimously.
Moved by Councillor Tautfest that By-law 4.75 receive second
reading. Carried Unanimously.

Moved by Councillor Musgrove that By-law 475 receive consent of
Council for third reading. Carried Unanimously.
Moved by Councillor Hajash that By-law 47$ receive third and final
reading. Carried Unanimously.
23. Moved by Councillor Tautfest that D.N. James be appointed County
Welfare Officer for 1973• Carried.

Moved by Councillor Janzen that Bevan, Hutch & Co. be appointed

RESOLUTION
Be it resolved that in accordance with Municipal Government Act,
the following remunerations be paid to the Chairman, Councillors,
and members of the School Committee, Agricultural Committee, Farm
Purchase Board, and the Court of Revision for the year 1973•
$15.00 per day plus $15.00 expenses for each Councillor or Member
for each Meeting attended.
12¢ per mile for each mile necessarily travelled in coming to and
returning from Meetings of the Council or Committee.
$15.00 per day plus $15.00 expenses for the Reeve for each day
necessarily spent in the discharge of his duties as Reeve other
than attendance at Council Meetings.
12¢ per mile for each mile necessarily travelled in discharge of
his duties as Reeve.
X15.00 per day plus $15.00 expenses to each Councillor or Member for
the time necessarily occupied in laying our or inspecting work
performed or to be performed for the County.
12¢ per mile for each mile necessarily travelled in respect to the
laying our or inspection of work performed or to be performed for
the County.
$15.00 per day plus X15.00 expenses to each Councillor or Member
attending Committee Meetings.
12¢ per mile for each mile necessarily travelled in respect of
Committee Meetings.
Done and passed with the unanimous consent of the Council this
27th day of November, 1972.
