Organizational Meeting
October 23, 19'74
The Organizational Meeting of the County of Newell No. 4 was held
in the County Office on Wednesday, October 23, 1974 at 2:00 p.m.

The Administrator took the Oath of Offices for all Councillors.
Reeve

nominations cease. Carried.
Deputy Reeve
P. Bartlett nominated by V. Fabian. Moved by H. Janzen that
nominations cease. Carried.
Municipal Committee
Moved by H. Janzen that all Council members sit on the Municipal
Committee. Carried.
School Committee
Moved by P, Bartlett that all Council members sit on the School
Committee. Carried.
Agriculture Service Board
Moved by P. Bartlett that the A.S.B. Committee consist of three
Councillors. Carried,

Meeting Dates
Moved by P. Bartlett that School Committee meet on Monday, Municipal
Committee on Tuesday, A.S.B. on Thursday and Council on Friday of
the first full week of each month. Carried.
Mileage
Moved by V. Fabian that Councillor's mileage be set at 14¢ per mile.
Carried.
Per Diem & Living-out Expense
Moved by J. Hajash that Councillor's per diem be set at $35.00 per
meeting. Carried.
Moved by V. Fabian that meal allowance be set at $10.00 per day.
Carried.
Banking
Moved by V. Fabian that the Reeve or Deputy Reeve and the Administrator
or Assistant Administrator have signing authority for all County
Current Accounts, Public Reserve, Trust Accounts and Savings Accounts;
and that the Administrator or Assistant Administrator have signing
authority for the Payroll Account. Carried.
County Welfare Officer
Moved by A. Vogel that D. James act as County Welfare Officer.
Carried.
Bonds
A review of the County Bonds for all employees was made by Council.
Auditors
Moved. by H. Janzen that Bevan & Hutch be appointed as County
Auditors. Carried.
Municipal Committee Chairman
Nominations were opened for the position of Municipal Committee
Chairman.
V. Fabian nominated by P. Bartlett.
H. Janzen nominated by L. Brockelsby.
Moved by Councillor Vogel that nominations cease. Carried.
Result of vote: H. Janzen was elected Municipal Committee Chairmano
School Committee
Moved by Councillor Janzen that the following Town & Villages
be represented on the School Committee: Bassano, Rosemary, Duchess
and Tilley. Carried.

RESOLUTION
Be it resolved that in accordance with Municipal Government Act,
the following remunerations be paid to the Chairman, Councillors,
and members of the School Committee, Agricultural Committee, and
the Court of Revision for the year 1974•
$~~0 per day for each Councillor or Member for each Meeting
attended.

14¢ per mile for each mile necessarily travelled in coming to and
returning from Meetings of the Council or Committee.

~~0 per day for the Reeve for each day necessarily spent in the
discharge of his duties as Reeve other than attendance at Council
Meetings.

That as provided under Section 81(3) of the Income Tax Act, Council
hereby designates 1/3 of their total renumeration as expense
allowances.
